Tenchi Muyo! is a Japanese anime, light novel and manga series with a passionate fan base. I had the good fortune to voice the character of Ryoko in the English dub cast.
It was 1995 when we started dubbing Tenchi episodes into English. I loved my character. Who wouldn’t want to play a sexy space pirate? I got to run the gamut of emotions in every episode. I also got to walk through walls and fly.
I had no idea that nearly twenty years later I’d still be receiving regular fan mail and social media contact from Tenchi fans. Something about the show really got to people. I consider myself lucky to have been a part of it. Tenchi fans are the best!
Here's some Tenchi video:
By the way, the karaoke episode is not the one where I was horrified to sing. When I had to actually sing in the sound booth, the producers were as horrified as I was and they hired a real singer.
Here's some video of my on-camera work:
Huge Tenchi fan for life here!!! I don't know if you remember me Petrea but my name is James and I wrote to you years ago about Tenchi. I am currently writing my first novel and am so happy to see you are editing and proof reading! You are at the top of my list when I have finished it. I think someone with an actors vision would certainly make an excellent fiction editor :) BTW do you have facebook?
So great that you're writing a novel! Congratulations. And yes, I have Facebook and Twitter, both of them under my name. Thanks for asking!
Man I love you in tenchi muyo and I was too little and no Internet to follow you on other projects but now I'm so happy I found you online. Hope you the best and much love here. Hope to be able to meet one day :)
