Garage Week, the Gentry

A better photo could be made of this fabulous garage, but I was so afraid I'd be taken for a prowler that I snapped what I could get. I like this one. You could keep daddy's Bentley in there, and still have room for the horses!

    Too beautiful for cars, even if they are Bentleys. It would make a lovely home/studio space. Love the tree in the middle of the drive.

    Susan, usually I remember the circumstances of all my pictures, but I can't remember this one. It seems to me I was on the west side, near the Arroyo, but I wouldn't swear to it. It could be South Pas. I snapped it and filed it under garages.

    I think I toured the main house once. I love it as it reminds me of the English arts and crafts houses - Voysey, Baillie Scott etc. This would have been where the coachman and/or chauffeur lived, which explains the small front entrance. Big enough for the servants.

    I think it's the one that's on South San Rafael between the La Loma and San Rafael bridges. The house stands on the corner of San Rafael and Hillside Terrace.

    oh, to me it looks like it should belong to the "castle" house on Orange Grove (between Allen & Altadena, maybe, south side?)

    I pass this fabulous house with its fabulous garage about every other day. And besides the 3 door-ed garages, there's a parking space where two minis used to reside. Thanks for the photo.

    It is lovely, Petrea. Looks like it has been identified. I noticed the house number is 885. I laughed at your thought about standing outside taking photos. I feel the same about my thatched cottages. If I can see that someone is home, I knock on the door :). Fun series!!

    Those garage doors are exceptionally lovely. Interesting what Bellis said about this being like an English arts and craft house. (It looks like a person could have a studio and/or writing space here, too).

    So close (to me) but so far away (economically). Lots of texture - slate roof - stone walls - intricate wood treatment and dappled shadows.
