A better photo could be made of this fabulous garage, but I was so afraid I'd be taken for a prowler that I snapped what I could get. I like this one. You could keep daddy's Bentley in there, and still have room for the horses!
Susan, usually I remember the circumstances of all my pictures, but I can't remember this one. It seems to me I was on the west side, near the Arroyo, but I wouldn't swear to it. It could be South Pas. I snapped it and filed it under garages.
I think I toured the main house once. I love it as it reminds me of the English arts and crafts houses - Voysey, Baillie Scott etc. This would have been where the coachman and/or chauffeur lived, which explains the small front entrance. Big enough for the servants.
I think it's the one that's on South San Rafael between the La Loma and San Rafael bridges. The house stands on the corner of San Rafael and Hillside Terrace.
I pass this fabulous house with its fabulous garage about every other day. And besides the 3 door-ed garages, there's a parking space where two minis used to reside. Thanks for the photo.
It is lovely, Petrea. Looks like it has been identified. I noticed the house number is 885. I laughed at your thought about standing outside taking photos. I feel the same about my thatched cottages. If I can see that someone is home, I knock on the door :). Fun series!!
Those garage doors are exceptionally lovely. Interesting what Bellis said about this being like an English arts and craft house. (It looks like a person could have a studio and/or writing space here, too).

Classy!
Now that's a gorgeous set of doors... Reeks of old money and class.
Too beautiful for cars, even if they are Bentleys. It would make a lovely home/studio space. Love the tree in the middle of the drive.
I could live in this garage. I wonder if someone does. Is it in South Pas?
The stone work is fabulous. I agree with above. Too beautiful/big for cars!

Do you remember, in general, where it is, Bellis? It seems I was there on some kind of home tour situation, but you'd think I'd remember the house.
West side of Pasadena? West side of the Arroyo?
Looks like a house that might be in the Arroyo area...
Very classy...

I can use this photo for the meditation about better, calmer, orderly and summer-er life.
And the place is also rich with birds' songs, oh I am sure..
Stunning building in amongst the big trees. The garaged gentry of Pasadena sure know how to live!
Thanks, Bellis. Could be it.
Irina, is it still snowing in Moscow? Still cold, at least. Yes, the birds are singing here today. I wish the same for you soon.
Katie, I believe they do.
oh, to me it looks like it should belong to the "castle" house on Orange Grove (between Allen & Altadena, maybe, south side?)

Nancy, a little mapquesting and I find it can't be the one you mention, but I know exactly which house you mean.
Hi Jill! I don't even need you to tell me where it is. I'm just glad to know I didn't make it up.
I'm too chicken to do that, LOL! Maybe I should get over that.
Ah! Yes, we must have lots of room for the horses.
this would make a perfect carriage house... or two!

So close (to me) but so far away (economically). Lots of texture - slate roof - stone walls - intricate wood treatment and dappled shadows.
