Altadena Rocks

My friend's foot is in a cast. I went to visit. She gave me coffee and a fresh, homemade scone. Apparently she hasn't been staying off her feet 24/7.

But hobbling around the house is about all she can do, and her sweet, relatively large dog is being patient about it.

"Is he getting walks?" I asked.

"When I have a volunteer," she said.

You know the rest. I enjoyed a walk around a quiet, Altadena neighborhood with a dapper escort in the form of Kirby, the yellow lab. (I'm guessing about the spelling of his name. "Kerby" would be a pun. "Curby" would be a double pun.)

Smart dog. He knew not to pee on these rocks.

I wonder if that was the intention when they painted them. Kirby and his mum are lucky to have kind friends such as you, Petrea.

California seems to exist in its own Alice in Wonderland dimension, Petrea. These are trippy.

I hope your friend gets well soon.

what dog could resist?

Altadena's full of surprises. Even giant Easter bunnies come down from the foothills to lay their eggs.

Kirby's a beautiful dog. Kind of you to walk him.

I'm guessing the title is a pun as well.

Plus he had the good manners to wait whilst you took a picture.

William, it's a pun, though I admit it's not a good one.

Deb, Kirby/Kerby/Curby is a good boy.

Great colors. They remind me of Easter eggs, too.

I'm sure Kirby/Kerby really enjoyed you talking him for a longer walk. He sounds like a very well-behaved boy.

It would've been fun to run into you, but perhaps it's just as well we didn't. Tommy wouldn't have been as polite as Kirby/Kerby/Curby. There's no way he would've been able to resist peeing on those rocks.

They're festive, aren't they, Ms. M?

Susan, I'm sure the rocks have been peed on many times. If Tommy and Kirby got along, all else would have been fine, no matter the rocks.

Aw, I would've happily walked a sweet pooch anytime! Love those bright rocks, they look like baubles for giant jewelry.

How fun are those rocks! It's like a giant Easter Bunny came by.

I like the Easter egg interpretation, as well as the giant jewelry baubles.

I have to go with Dive's reaction.

Much of California is like the Midwest, in a way--farms, the rural life. Then there are huge mountain areas--quiet, contemplative. But the cities, yes, Dive is right. There's room for every type here.

I am noticing that tree. Well worn trunk with colorful display at its base. Super. Been there, done it reference broken ankle. Bet it made her day when you walked thru the door :).

I hope she's had a lot more visitors, because dogs need walking and I want her to stay off her feet!
