Zen Monday: #214

We like our Zen Mondays around here, we surely do. Monday is the day you tell us what the photo's about, rather than me describing it for you.

 **********

I will likely skip Zen Monday next week, and perhaps the week after, to accommodate entries to the Camelot Where You Are photo contest. We're having a good time with this, so enter a photo! The instructions are here (it's super easy) and each week's winner gets a free copy of my new novel, Camelot & Vine, upon its release in October. Come back throughout the week to see entries from around the world. Tomorrow's is from Torino, Italy!

************************

Good morning! Boz and I are exercized, I'm coffeed, the day begins.

I apologize for last night's glitch with the poll. Susan C. was unable to vote at 10:25pm LA time, and that shouldn't have been the case. I thought I had set the thing for Pacific time, but I take responsibility for the problem. In any case, our front runner was far enough ahead that a tie is unlikely.

I haven't sent polldaddy to export results to the blog, so if you'd like to receive a pdf of the tally just email me and I'll be glad to send it to you.

Drum roll, please!

The winner is #2, Chris, with King Arthur Flour! Chris wins a free copy (signed, if she wishes) of Camelot & Vine, which comes out in October if we all cross our fingers.

Congratulations, Chris! And thank you all for entering. The contest continues until the book comes out, if we get enough entries. Details (it's easy) are here.

Wow! The first day's sales of Camelot and Vine have been even more successful than we hoped.

Who says books aren't popular anymore?

Now, that's a zealous cleaner. I just dust around my books.

I am surprised the bookstore didn't just put up one sign that explained a certain section was all 'clearance' items...

A thousand copies of "The Invisible Man" must be sold before closing time tonight! Get 'em while they're hot...

Congratulations to Chris.

Immediately I was a bit sad when I saw this as I thought another book store was biting the dust...then I thought... "but wait! It could be a new book store just waiting for all kinds of books to fill the shelves"!!!

This remind me of those lolcat captions.

Clearance books have been cleared.

Congrats to Chris on her Camelot photo win!

As for Zen, this looks like the Borders on Lake that went belly up.

In truth, I am not very good at doing captions, just love reading them...and aren't these good.

@Petrea: once again muchas gracias!
hope you have another contest- this one definitely made me think! :-)

Petrea, ever the efficient one and in search of a little extra income to build on a real home studio at PDP, took on a job at the local bookstore (ok, so it wasn't Vroman's...). She was SUCH a good salesperson, she sold out not only all the Clearance items, but also the Bargain books. Watch out, I think she's heading over to SciFi next. Grab 'em while they've still got 'em!

Bellis said...

Trish, you made me laugh out loud and scare the animals. Congrats to Chris!

Why is King Arthur, hero of the ancient British tribes, so often portrayed as a Crusader?

Petrea Burchard said...

Actually, it is Vroman's.

I don't know the answer to your question, Bellis, but I have a guess. In the 14th (or was it 15th?) century, writers (not historians) got hold of the fantasy of King Arthur and made him a Christian. They probably thought making him a crusader was a good idea.

Ms M said...

Is Merlin in "Camelot & Vine"? Perhaps he made these books disappear....

Margaret said...

Oh, that is just sad. No book shelf should look likeet that.

Petrea Burchard said...

I've combined the history (what's known of it) with the fantasies, Ms. M, so Merlin is in the story, in a way.

Margaret, I don't want to make Vroman's look bad! I think they were just moving stock.

If I were giving out prizes for comments today, I'd give one to Dive for boosting my book! And to Chieftess, for thinking positive.
