I recognized this imposing castle immediately. Here's what Lauren says about it:
"Had to be Warwick Castle. For me....Camelot is just up that garden path."
I'm a little jealous. On my trip to England (ages ago) when I studied at Oxford for a summer, I visited Warwick (pronounced "Warrick"). It's magnificent, as you can see. The tour takes you through only a small part of it, though there's plenty to see. It's just so huge, leaving room for your imagination to wonder what further adventures hide within its walls.
The castle overlooks the river Avon, and it's from that side that Lauren took her photo.
Thank you, Lauren!

I'm excited about the Camelot Where You Are photo contest. Be sure to return during the remainder of the week to see more entries. And stay tuned! Over the weekend we'll vote for this week's favorite. Last week's winner was Chris, with King Arthur Flour.
Each weekly winner receives a free copy of Camelot & Vine upon publication, which I plan/hope/expect will be in October. Publication day, whatever day it turns out to be, will be the final day for entries.
Send in your pic now! It's easy to enter and anyone can do it.

Gorgeous! Warwick's a lovely place.
I'm sitting here gaping like Cletus the slack-jawed yokel at the sheer perversity of emigrating from Pasadena to England. What terrible crime did Lauren commit to deserve such a dreadful fate?
If someone said the word castle to me, this is pretty much what would leap into my head. What a fine specimen!
Magnificent is the word, all right.
Very impressive! The castle is gorgeous in its own right but I also love how it's surrounded by green.
Dive, England is very enticing and exotic from the vantage point of Pasadena!
I love the castle, and the path leading through all the greenery. It looks like the castle is almost a surprise when you get to it! And I agree with Susan (as usual). Moving to England sounds like a Dream Come True to me!
The summer I spent in England, the weather was ideal. The sun stays out late there in summer. We American kids grow up on tales of adventure and castles and royalty, or we did when I was a tyke. Living in England is a dream of mine, too.
Dive - You aren't the first and undoubtedly won't be the last to wonder if I have lost my marbles (especially when you hear I lived in Honolulu for a spell before moving to Coventry). I married an Englishman so England is where we live happily, rain or shine. And, now I seem to be 'promoting' this beautiful England. Go on, Petrea, come over and do some research for another book :)
I spent a couple of weeks on Oxford 20 years ago. It was summer and I remember fireflys, not something I had ever seen in Hollywood.
Magical.
Uh oh!!!...Fabrizio has some competition here!!! And this Camelot is actually in Merry ol' England!!!
Dive...Having moved from Glendale (next door to Pasadena) to the mountains where it snows...a lot...I'd say it would be hardest to give up Southern California weather!!! I miss the weather down south... But...living in England with all that charm and history would be delightful...if only the sun would shine more!!!
I got a bit of a false impression because it was sunny and hot my entire month at Oxford. It began to rain the day I left, so I had two weeks' vacation in the rain. But the two weeks were spent exploring castles, ruins and history. An American girl of my generation grew up on fairy tails of such things. It was heaven to me.
I spent a chunk of one summer in England and met my husband there ;-). Warwick Castle was on the list of tours and was the first thing I thought of when Petrea posted about sharing. Thanks for sharing Lauren and reminding me of that summer long ago!
In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.
Aw, Trish, that's great. I think we're all glad to see Warwick again.
Ann, I lost count of how many times I saw that movie. When it came out (1967!) I had an after-school job and I spent all of my earnings on seeing that movie when it was in town. (One year later it was Zeferelli's "Romeo & Juliet.")
Adorable castle! Not too big, lots of greenery, and a great brick path. Perfect weekend get-away castle after a hard week at Castello del Valentino.
That's a magnificent castle -- and excellent photo. It's what I would imagine upon hearing the word "castle".
Good thing I checked in again as my comment's never appeared. Well, I had nothing much to say except that Warwick is the perfect Camelot Castle, and they even do tournaments and jousting there in summer. And I have never been!!! Will put that to rights next year.
I hate to tell you this, Katie (not really), but you see here only a small portion of this gargantuan castle. The place is huge, and all the more fantastic for it.
It is, isn't it, Ms. M? Just the thing.
Bellis, I remember upon my visit (a Saturday, the day after I arrived at Oxford), they were finishing up a tournament when we arrived.
You must go. I wasn't crazy about the wax figures (a young Churchill, enh...) but the dungeon was cool, and of course the wossnames.
Wow, what have you been up to?
We've been busy in your absence, Hiker. Haven't we, guys? Here, take a look at this

Glad you're back.
