In n Out

If you like to have your hamburger at mealtime - the lunch hour, for example, or I don't know, maybe at dinnertime - then you're going to have to wait. Even when it's not the 60th anniversary of southern California's own In-n-Out Burger, there's always a line at Pasadena's Foothill Blvd. location.

The exact anniversary was Wednesday. I forgot. I only knew I craved an In-n-Out burger that day, so I drove on over with the taste on my mind's tongue. Alas, the line was a block long and I had to be at rehearsal by 6:30. It was my loss.

Ben, however, was prepared on Wednesday. Look what I missed.

I encourage you to peruse the In-n-Out website. Several things make In-n-Out unique: the way they run their business and the way they care about their employees are just a couple. But the taste of those burgers is what keeps the countless loyal customers lining up for more.

It's late, and this has me thinking of The Who: "...mama's got a squeezebox..."

I've seen one of these down in Sonoma county, but it's a little far for a burger. These fabulous links will have to suffice (thanks Ben!).

Petrea
Your post is no good to me!
I'm on a diet and craving fora burger...
This just doesn't help. Can't you post some vegetable soup (no fat) with almost no calories?
Nice photo though...

Let's make a deal: I'll meet you at the In n Out, or in the line, next time I come to America.
That is almost the only thing I miss from the USA--big juicy hamburgers and milkshakes. (I feasted on Ben's illustration.) Well, maybe not in the same meal.

OK, Petrea??

What a great Southern California photo! I had no idea that In n Out has been around for 60 years. I'll have to go help them celebrate their birthday this weekend, especially after seeing Ben's photo! I really like their food, since it's made fresh, and the portions aren't too big.

Thanks for the link to the In n Out site...very interesting and surprised they've been around for 60 years! Oh how I wish we had such a burger place here in Knoxville!

I'm with Katie; this shot looks so Southern California, but retro. Like that arrow cutting into the sky -- it's been your week for arrows, hasn't it.

The English it is a funny language: you can eat up or chow down—you can dig in or you can pig out …

Elaine, I'm not a burger person but I'd drive a ways for one of these.

Rose, for you I'll seek out something low-calorie.

Dina, it's a deal.

Katie, you need a double-double!

Well Hope, I'm sorry you don't have an In-n-Out, but every place has its charms. You have that (non-chain) Long's Drug store I remember.

AH, I guess I've had a couple of arrows this week. I wonder if my subconscious is...nah.

Bernie I can throw up, upchuck, or keep my food down. English is so useful.

I believe IN & OUT, like Trader Joe's, is a San Gabriel Valley native.

The Best Burger 4 de price!
I think that's what it's all about.
