Chess in the Park

A perfect day for a book and a fireplace.

This checkerboard table and chairs sits in the Lower Arroyo Park, across the wash from the parking lot.

I didn't take the photo today. I'd say I didn't want to get my camera wet, but the truth is I didn't want to get me wet. I haven't seen rain like that in a long time! Good for us!

Thats neat, the checkboard is the table?

It's embedded in the tabletop. I've played there. I used to get beat all the time by a one-eyed janitor named Pineapple. True story.

Jim, if you double-click on the photo you can see it a little better.

Bernie, I don't believe you!

Could you give me directions to this chess table? I would love to check this place out!

Catch the Sun, I'm sorry to say it's no longer there! It used to be directly across the wash from the parking lot at Lower Arroyo Park in Pasadena. I don't know when or why it was taken out. Some time after I took this photo someone wrote graffiti on it. Perhaps it was too hard to maintain.
