Ordeal

Boz is having a bit of an ordeal. Had to have stitches. Chewed one out.

This morning at Foothill Veterinarian, Dr. Bell said Boz won't need a replacement stitch. Just some antihistamine. So it's less of an ordeal than we'd feared.

But Boz doesn't know that. For him, it was still horrible.

  1. That photo tells a great story.
    Sorry for Boz btw

  2. Poor guy! Scary place, people doing things that hurt, other anxious animals. Take care, Boz.

  3. Awww, too bad. Bibi hasn't ever had stitches except when she was spayed, and fortunately left them alone.

What happened to poor Boz? He looks like my mother's dog, Ginger.

Bibi wishes him a speedy recovery.

  5. Thank you all. Boz sends his grrratitude. (Bibi, he had a tumor removed. Looks like it wasn't a bad one.)

  6. As much as we love animals, it is hard to see them suffer and even harder, sometimes, to get things into them to make them well.

  7. Boz!
    Ya poor fella!

    Fantastic photo!
    Really beautifully captured.

Didn't Boz get to wear one of those Elizabethan collars?

  8. Dear Boz:

Monkeys bite, too, sometimes. But they usually don't mean to hurt. They just don't speak Dog very well.

My advice: trust the monkeys who dress the wound, speak softly and give you dinner. If you sleep in their den and make it through the night alive, you can probably trust them.

Plus, rumor has it that monkeys know how to make cheese! Get well soon,

    Bernie K.

  9. Sorry for Boz. Hope he feels better soon!

I'm glad I don't have a dog full-time. My parents-in-law are coming to pick up their dog tomorrow after 3 weeks with us. I think she'll be glad to go back to a quieter home with her "mom and dad".

  10. I wonder if aloe vera would work on doggie wounds. (As an adjunct, not sole treatment).

  11. Poor Boz! But he's definitely in good hands with Dr. Bell at al. at Foothill. We love them.

  12. Abe, Boz ate his antihystamine tonight with his dinner and never knew the difference. Made him drowsy, too.

Freefalling: Thanks! I like this one, too. Boz does have a collar, and should have been wearing it (my fault). I'd never post a photo of him in it though. He's too proud.

    Diva: cheese.

    Bernie: see? Cheese.

Christie: they do require attention and consistency, like little kids do. Granted, it's not the same as a child, but there are definite similarities!

Tall Gary: that's a great idea and I'm going to google it. Might be a good healer for his scars.

Caltechgirl: Boz has gotten great care from all the doctors he's seen there. I guess we're not the only ones who are pleased, because the place is packed on Saturdays.

  13. Feel better soon, Boz!!!

(I like the angle of the photo, Petrea. It gives us a sense of Boz's perspective.)

  14. Wishing Boz a quick recovery. Be brave.

  15. Thanks, Parisian Heart. He's already feeling better, at least as long as he's not wearing his cone.

Dina, Boz is brave in a little old toddler kind of way, if that makes sense. And thanks, he's recovering well.

  16. Poor Boz! Love the photo of him peeking from the corner as if to check out what's coming ahead.

  17. The best vets are at Foothill. They saved my dog's (Katie) life and I am forever in debt. Great pic.

  18. We're not talking financial debt, right Kim? I'm thinking Foothill's reasonable, as Pasadena vets go.;)

  19. Well, at least he's still alive. My male dog had kidney failure back in '05 and died at the vet.........I still have the urn.

  20. By the way, if Boz would need any further operations, you might want to try a head-cone. Yes, it annoys dogs but it stops them from chewing.

  21. You know....looking at the photo, enlarged, it looks as if though the kneeling woman is grieving or upset.

    PS: I talk too much...

  22. Believe me, lindseymm, Boz has his cone on right now!

The kneeling woman is comforting her kitty, I think.

  23. Ah, I see. From the angle it looks as if she has her hands over her face as if upset.

  24. Well, Petrea, as I said before, Boz is lucky to be alive. I don't know how old he is but do spend all the time you can with him.

That is...what I regret with my dead dog. For about...4 years...when I got him as a child around age 5, I would do apalling things to him and it makes me want to turn back the clock and give myself a beating.

He lived a good near-12 year life but it is the first 4 years, everyday, that I regret and I would do anything to relive those first 4 years and do the right thing.
