Quick Blog Break
I'm taking a quick blog break. At least I hope it will be quick. Like a fool, I went and updated my operating system and now I don't know how to use the photo program. Oh damn, I must learn something new.
I'm working on something else that's requiring me to become a techie, so the photo program has to wait. Just a bit. Fingers (and toes) crossed). I have a maximum capacity for this stuff, and my skull runneth over.
Waiting is hard. Ask someone who knows.

Hopefully you'll have it sorted soon. Wilma's good company in the meantime!
She's an excellent office-mate, William.
I love that your skull runneth over sometimes, Petrea ... I thought it was just me. I'm happy to visit with Wilma for as long as it takes. Bonne chance and best of British !!
She does look very patient, doggedly so in fact... I'm sure you will resolve your technical issues before too long. In the meantime enjoy your time 'offline'!
Did u update to Windows 10??
btw, do I see a tear in Wilma's eye?
Merci, Shell! I think everyone's skull runneth over at one time or another.
Geoff, as Wilma is my office mate I use her "dogged" example and take it all one step at a time. It's only learning, after all.
KBF, I work on a Mac and updated to Yosemite. Everything works, I just have to learn how to work it. The photo program is different. Shouldn't take me too long but I have to do some other stuff first before I can get to it.
In Wilma's eye: probably a booger. She's no crybaby, she is the Monster of our neighborhood and you'd better look out! (That's what she told me to say.)
@Petrea: so,she isn't 'all bark and no bite'?? could of fooled me.. :-)
love how Microsoft is trying to cram Windows 10 down my throat... i didn't even reserve it!. So far, its failing to load. :-)
Wilma likes people, but is not too crazy about other animals. Her training continues, but I think she's got PTSD and we have a long way to go. Keep your kitties away!
At least you can still upload great photos of Wilma. What's the photo program you use? I need one; mine are all stored chaotically. But isn't it great that we oldies can still learn new technology and keep up with the younger generation who seem to have absorbed it all through the ether? I'm really impressed how you've mastered so many things I can't do, like publing a book, blogging, and marketing through Amazon. The main thing I lack is patience, and then my dear husband takes over and I never learn for myself. I also end up with my MacBook starting up with "Hello Barbara" under HIS face, which is very disconcerting.
Ooops: publing a book? Is that when you talk about your book in a pub?
I would love to puble a book, perhaps one on one or in a group. A comfy pub is what I need.
I'm learning all kinds of new stuff, Bellis, and I don't have time at the moment to figure out the Photos program on the new operating system. I will get to it, but I'm having to pick up some audio recording and editing tech knowledge and that's top priority right now. The economy dictates that we have to do everything ourselves. So I publed my books and now I'm publing audio!
I feel your pain. I just got my first cell phone. Every time you get that rock up the hill - well you know the story.
I know, PA. There's small joy in each victory, then along comes another rock to push. I must focus on the small joys.
Thanks for the warning about Yosemite. I've just been invited to update to it by my laptop and am holding back till the bugs are fixed. My friend's 15 year old grandson came to visit, declared her software ancient, and updated it without backing up. She lost all her emails and everyone's email addresses, but as he'd meant to be helpful she couldn't freak out in front of him.
Nothing that drastic happened to me. I had backed up everything and the update went smoothly. I just don't have time to learn the new photo program right now. And I think my computer might be a bit old to run the new software, although it's doing OK. That's something you should check before you update. Google your specific computer's compatibility with Yosemite.
I'm with KBF and ignoring Windows 10.
It's probably a good rule of one's opposable thumb to ignore new software until the patches/updates are released.
Operating system upgrades are the pits. I'm holding on to Win 7, against Win 10 right now, because I'm not sure if my photo program will work with it, not to mention some other older software and periferals I have.
Good luck and hang in strong with the learning curve. I'm sure Wilma is of great help to you :-)
I don't blame you for holding onto Win 7, especially for the sake of your photo program, Ms M. For all I know, the new Yosemite photo program is good, and luckily I'm not having any trouble with the rest of it. Right now I'm trying to learn audio editing software, and I think would be a learning curve for me regardless of the operating system!
Love Wilma's darling expression.
I just updated to Windows 10 and had a big problem with my photos too. I like using Picasa (free Google) but couldn't find it after the update. I have figured it out now. If I "right click' on the photo I want to edit or view - on the list that pops up is "Open with". You then get the list of choices and the one I like to use is "Picasa Photo Viewer". I click on that and I'm back to where I used to be on Windows 8. It's annoying to add this extra step but it works for me. Appreciate this may not be right solution for you but it might help someone else :).
Thanks, Lauren, I hope it does! And, like Windows, Apple seems to have added some extra steps. I'll probably learn it piecemeal.
