Trying to raise my head above the proverbial water and catch a breath! I've been snowed under lately--proverbially, of course. It's actually warm and dry in Pasadena, and I don't believe there's been any snow here in the flatlands since the 1940's.
I took this shot in Los Angeles, along Beverly Blvd., on my way home from a recording session. There's no good freeway route, but I prefer the surface streets anyway. It's not far and there's so much to see.
Sometimes I'm pretty tired at the end of a work day, but mostly I feel satisfied. I'm fortunate to work at what I love. And when I'm as tired as I was yesterday, I'm happy to take my time on the way home and just wander.

Los Angeles seems a strange and exotic place to an Englishman, Petrea. I'd have to travel to Spain to get a shot like this (I even have to travel to London to get good Spanish sausage), and yet it's all part of your daily life in California.
Petrea, you personify here the Jewish ideal (in Talmud, Pirkei Avot 4.1) of ha-sameach bechelko, the truly happy individual is the one who is "happy with his lot/portion," happy with who he is.
I'm so happy for you that you are a sameach be-chelko.
So how much are the chicken family packs this week?
True, Dive. Sometimes a drive along Beverly Blvd. feels like a trip to Mexico, or Korea. This is one of the things I love about Los Angeles.
That's nice to hear, Dina. To be a sameach be-chelko, if indeed I am one, is to accept that happiness is not possible all day every day.
JB, I can't divulge prices because the spot I recorded this week doesn't run until next week. But I can tell you this: it's a fine price on a fine product!
So this isn't the shop on Holly Street :). (When I saw the thumbnail, I honestly thought that would be where we were going today. Obviously not.) Nevertheless, I was not disappointed...super, creative shot!
There was snow in Glendale in the '50's Petrea!!!
Note to self: wandering--must do more. Particularly now that the heat has broken (please God!)
Thank you, LOL! Not the same shop, but still window-gazing nonetheless.
Chieftess, I didn't know that. I wonder if Pasadena got it then, too?
Des, looks like we're in for a muggy day today, but not as hot. Will that work?
Ethnic, multicultural .... but I wish the store owners had a sense of aesthetics. It's uglier than Mexico itself which, apart from the border towns, is quite charming.
I was just a little tyke so I don't have a clue about Pasadena...but probably yes somewhere up above Colorado or Foothill!!!!!!
Pasadena got snow in the 70's. Stood at my grandparents place in Linda Vista and watched it come down in the spotlight they had on the driveway. Didn't really stick, but it was pretty amazing to watch.
The shop on Beverly looks a lot like a shop on Olympic I used to know. Probably built about the same time and aged similarly.
Some of the shops are cute, but yeah, Bellis, Beverly itself isn't beautiful along that stretch. Too bad. I like the brick building at the corner of...I think it's Vermont. It has nice archways.
We're due for more snow, Chieftess & Trish. It's high time.
Wandering is good for the soul. Be careful though, especially along Beverly. You might end up with a pit bull in your car. That neighborhood's where I found Tommy.
I love your "wanderings" during your commutes. It's fascinating to see these pockets of places.
I'm a fan of pit bulls, Susan, but Boz isn't. So I'll heed your warning.
Thank you, Ms. M. I should probably get a little braver because LA is endlessly fascinating. But I want to get home eventually.
a "B?" That wouldn't have been my guess.
Can't judge a book by it's cover, they say, but I do anyway.
looks a lot like some areas near me
Catch up on your rest, Petrea. You don't want to burn out.
Thanks, Margaret. You are so right.
Love the reflections of the signs in the window. Prices for beer, prices probably for cuts of meat. Perhaps this November is the month we can set out to explore.

I'd love that, Roberta.
I know how you feel about strolling home after a long day. I actually enjoy my commute for that reason. Can take freeway or streets, and it's always pleasant. This, I believe, makes me a Bad Angeleno (We are meant to complain about the traffic. It's genetic...)
It is in our DNA, even if we're transplants, Adele. And I admit I'm sometimes in a hurry. But my commute's an easy one and not usually backed up, so I don't get many opportunities to complain.
