Seeing Theater in Sierra Madre

I had tickets to see Incident at Vichy at the Sierra Madre Playhouse the other night. John is in pre-production and can't tear himself away from the desk. I knew who I wanted to invite in his stead: Adele of Seeing Sierra Madre: One Photo at a Time.

Sierra Madre is a charming corner of the San Gabriel Valley. Adele is excellent company. My friend Karyn O'Bryant is a fine actor and so is everyone else in the cast of Incident at Vichy (that's one reason why it was a Critic's Choice in the Los Angeles Times). Add them together and it was a great evening.

Across the street from the Playhouse there's this cocktail joint called The Buccaneer. You can see the Playhouse marquee reflected in the window. Adele and I didn't go in because we were both tired, but the place has a reputation for fun. Snotty Scotty and the Hankies play there, so I don't know what more you could ask.

Sierra Madre is Adele's territory (not that any of us are territorial around here), so I'll let Adele give you the pic from the theater (doesn't Karyn look marvelous?). But we had such a good evening. Many, many thanks to Karyn and the cast and crew of Incident at Vichy and the Sierra Madre Playhouse.

Amazing photo! "The Buc" looks fascinating and mysterious.

Your post captured the evening just as it was. I had such a great time.

I look forward to meeting again soon. Possibilities are limitless in our vast, shared Territory.

What fun. And the playhouse reminds me something you'd find in the Mid West.

Petrea, you and Adele have done a splendid job sharing this event. After reading both of your entries for today, I feel like I have been out to the the theatre followed by a quick drink (mine was a Rusty Nail) at The Buccaneer. Great night!!!! Enjoyed it :)

It sounds like a great play and after seeing Adele's entry as well, how wonderful you were able to see it together! A lovely evening :)

Great play; great cast. You are so lucky to have such cool theatres and such cool friends, Petrea.
The cocktail bar looks inviting, too. I don't drink cocktails but listening to the clips on Snotty Scotty's website I'd be happy to go in and try some.

Thanks, everyone. I have to say I especially love Adele's photo of Karyn in the theater lobby. Karyn is a delightful person who plays an evil character in the play and I could tell she was really enjoying herself.

In fact I read about Mother Moo on Adele's blog, Margaret. I'm learning all sorts of things I didn't know about Sierra Madre.

Ms. M, I hadn't been to see a play in a while and I'm glad it was a good one! A slight reference to Scotty and his Hankies will appear in this space again tomorrow.

Sierra Madre is wonderful territory. I'm due for a visit, and I'd love to see the play. Maybe I can squeeze it in.
