Yeah, sure, that's what you all say...(jk)... don't want to kill your uplifting mood, but, am dealing w/elderly mom who is now visiting Eisenhower Medical....

Wow, KBF, are you spending the weekend in the Palm Springs area or are you commuting? Sounds like a lot of stress. I hope your mom feels better soon.

Like the blue and pink glow from these storefronts. Not much of a manicure person, but oh do I love pedicures. I think I might have to make an appointment.

I had fish tacos with friends in Los Feliz. I need a mani-pedi though. My parents are visiting and we're going to a wedding today. My mom is not doing so great. It's stressful caring for elderly parents.

KBF, I hope your mom is okay.

P, do you recommend this place?

Well, I've actually never been there. I was attracted to the neon.

Click on the link, though, they have good reviews.

I rarely get my nails done. When I do I go to Kim at Jubilee Salon, but I don't think she'll be in on a Sunday.

I'm in desperate need of a pedi!!! But don't think I'll be heading south to meet that need...I'm just going to have to take the plunge up here and pay the double price!!! (Yep...it's practically double the cost up here!)

Looks like the "self-care" block on this street. I could use both this week :-)

KBF and Susan: Thinking of you and your parents during this time. Caring for elderly parents can be very hard. If you're looking for some resources / info / assistance, etc., you can find a listing of local agencies at www.eldercare.gov

Interesting how we got onto two different subjects today: manicure/pedicures (for some reason I don't like to say "mani-pedi") and caring for aging parents. I suppose the two subjects are indirectly related (don't forget to take care of yourself, too).

You had me puzzled there for awhile, as I didn't think you were the manicure type. I really should go, but there's no point because I spend too much time outdoors and with animals. In London I saw a place offering "pedicures with fish". In my jetlagged state, I thought that's what Susan had had.

TheChieftess said...

As I understand it Bellis...pedicures with fish is a pedicure where you stick your feet in water where little tiny fish eat away your dry skin!!!

Yes! One of my favorite daily photo blogs is Menton Daily Photo by Jilly Bennet, a transplanted Brit who has three photo blogs (including Menton and Monte Carlo). Take a look at her great photo of a fish pedicure:

I first came across these fish in the wild state in a waterfall pool in Thailand. Some were quite big, and they were eagerly waiting at the edge of the pool for someone to feed on. It was tickly and quite pleasant, and I was happy to feed the wildlife. Not sure I'd feel the same about feeding myself to a mountain lion.

Somehow I think having a mountain lion nibbling on my feet would not feel tickly and pleasant.

That's my kind of shop. Not the massage parlour, of course, but any shop where I can go and buy nails gets my vote. Thorn's hardware in Norwich has a counter in the basement with a big sign over it that just says "SCREWS". I suspect it's as misleading to some men as your NAILS sign.

Petrea Burchard said...

Ha! As long as I know where to get mine sharpened, I'm fine.

I had a great time camping with my girl scouts. Anyone for smores?

Petrea Burchard said...

Margaret, you are brave.

TheChieftess said...

I'd love a s'more...as long as it was nowhere near the fire extinguisher in the next post!!!

Susan Campisi said...

I'll take some smores too, as long as it's not while fish are nibbling at my feet.

Bellis, I have the same problem with manicures. An hour after I get one I'm out walking Tommy (or Louise) and my nails get chipped. But I do indulge for special occasions. (P, I don't blame you for not saying "mani-pedi." It's kind of an obnoxious phrase.)

Ms M, thank you so much for the kind thoughts and eldercare link. I'm going to check out the site now.
