A Brilliant Idea

The Dena Magazine has got something going on. These guys started small and kept going, bridging gaps, and they haven't stopped. Sometimes they write about things other Pasadena publications either gloss over or never mention at all. I think their progress is well worth watching.

On May 19th, from 10am-3pm, The Dena Magazine brings us The Dena Community Business and Arts Expo at the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly Street. I have no idea what it'll be like but my guess tells me it will be diverse and interesting, with young businesses and new faces. When we attend at the Convention Center ten years from now we can say we were at the first one.

"Einstein and Beyond," the 1998 mural on the south side of the Senior Center, is by southern California artist Gifford Myers. The mural is part of Pasadena Public Art Walking Tour #3.

Einstein on his bicycle is one of my all-time favorite photos. Love this mural. I'm going to have to check out the walking tours.

Interesting publication.

Adele, the walking tours are just great. They point up a lot of outdoor art you might not notice otherwise; Pasadena is loaded with it.

It is, Jean. I don't think anyone else is doing what they're doing, reaching out to the community in the way they are.

Dena Magazine looks very interesting and I bet the Expo will be too. Cool to be able to print out the Art Walking Tour map and zip around town checking out this great mural and the other public art!

Yeah. It'd be fun to do it on bicycles, like Albert.

I hadn't heard of Dena Magazine. I like what they're doing. I'll try to check out the expo. Love the Einstein mural!

We do, Ms. M. It doesn't hurt that we're part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. But Pasadena was once completely separate and even hard to get to from LA. It is its own self and has its own culture.

They're up and comers, Susan. I hope they succeed and I think they will.

I just saw this post for the first time today, and I absolutely love it! Our expo was this passed Saturday, and though attendance was not as high as we had hoped, it was still a complete success! It showed businesses as well as our community the lengths we're willing to go through to promote the local ventures that separate Pasadena from every other city in the world. We truly appreciate all the love and support from everyone as we continue to grow as a business and a movement. Please, feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, comments, or suggestions that you may have at (636) DENA-MAG!
