Night Shots

I don't post many night shots. I don't go out at night very often and I don't currently have a tripod, so those are my excuses. But I love it out there and I want pictures of it. So here's one of my street.

It's usually night when I post, a night like this one. I'm in my chair with my dog snoring at my feet and my laptop (where else?) in my lap. I wear the most comfortable clothes in my wardrobe, which, coincidentally, are also the ugliest. A glass of water sits on the table beside me. A notepad. A pen. On winter nights, the heater's running.

In summer, I do the whole thing on the front porch, except for the ugly clothes part. (Boz, our dog, knows the words "front porch.") Don't ask my neighbors about Boz's early morning perambulation. I do not get dressed up for that.

love the silhouettes of the trees... the moon and lamp light could be focal points, eh?

You mean the photo, J? You like it? Me, too.

I'm with you, Kalei, I like the silhouettes of the trees. I was going to say "outlines," but "silhouettes"--a great word.

It was a bright round moon last night, wasn't it? I couldn't work out where the streak of light crossing my kitchen was coming from. I like the street lights in your photo - their iconic shape is one of the things I love about Pasadena.

This is such a great photo! First it's a cool view of the moon, but it's also a neighborhood photo. Cozy and slightly spooky at the same time. I'll definitely miss my daily dose of Pasadena, but look forward to having 3 weeks of photos and text when I get back from my trip.

The moon and clouds are very atmospheric in a Victorian ghost story kind of way.

I'll come clean, Bellis: this one's from night before last, the full moon.

Katie, have a wonderful time! Can't wait to see your pictures, you always take such interesting photos.

I like that, Deb. A Victorian ghost story in Pasadena, and why not? Pasadena has hits origins in late Victorian times.

I've gotten some emails today saying people are having trouble commenting. I don't know what the deal is but if you're having trouble, please send me an email and I'll try to get to the bottom of it with Blogger. In the meantime, I've shut down the word verification. I hope that makes it easier.

Lovely, atmospheric photo -- I love night shots, especially with the moon. Air of mystery with it shimmering in the clouds.
(And comfy clothes are the best -- especially sitting outside in the moonlight :-))

I never managed to get a decent night shot, even back in the day when I was taking photos regularly. This one is really great. I love it. I also love the image you painted of how you spend your nights.

Just so long as nobody sees me in my waffle pants, Ms. M.

I forgot to mention the helicopters, Susan. We've had quite a few the last couple of days. Sometimes I think it's got to be nothing but traffic stops. What's going on out there?

ok, am going to try again...yesterday, Blogger seemed to have it in for me.

what I *tried* to post yesterday was:

lol John and then Petrea.

Petrea---magnificent shot! I had to open it up to get a better look, but OMFG! I don't say that often about shots. Beautiful, sure, many shots are. But magnificent is saved for truly amazing photos.

Dayum woman!

Do something other than leave it to be shared only with those of us who stumble across your blog!

wooohooo, it worked!

glad Blogger is fixed, or better, or, I dunno, not so broken as yesterday.

Petrea Burchard said...

High praise, Trish, thank you. I hope it's fixed, too. I couldn't figure anything out.

I love that picture. It's very moody.

Unutterably beautiful, Petrea.
I wish I could sit outside with a glass of water, but it was minus eight last night and a glass of ice doesn't appeal.

It's good to see you Dive, even in the bitter cold.
