I don't suppose I'd go out alone after midnight, but I'm glad Boz and I can walk in our neighborhood after dark. He likes the shadows, the sounds, the unexpected. I can do without the intrigue, but it's there.
(Don't mind me. I'm trying out new templates and styles to see what works.)

Meanie Streets
I thought I was brave to snap this photo with a car coming. Now that I upload it, the car looks far away.
One thing I love about January: I can take night shots and still be home by 6:30. I tempt fate! I brave the night! I will stay out until 6:45! 7:00 maybe! I dare to stand in front of an oncoming car that's a mere 500 yards away, going 15 miles an hour! Haha! Bring it on, you dastard. I AM NOT AFRAID. Try and stop me, JUST TRY.
Silly one, you cannot stop me. I am fearless. I have an iPhone, a packet of kleenex, and a little tub of Vaseline in my very pockets. I have keys! And my companion is a dangerous, elderly dog who obeys my every command except the ones he doesn't know, like "kill" and "come here."
So don't mess with me or I will take your picture! And my dog will ignore you to death!

Nobody likes Mondays, but I hope a little Zen will brighten yours.
It's the day when you tell us what the photo's about, so please leave your comments.

Downstairs Downtown
I went out the other night!
After dark and everything!
I know!
Old Town Pasadena has nooks and crannies, too many to count. I like to wander there any time, to peek into places that appear to be secrets. But after dark an intrigue is added, perhaps imagined, perhaps real. Alleys, stairwells, doorways--everything looks different in artificial light and the shadows it throws. At night, I notice things I've never seen during the day. And they become stories in my head, or thoughts I shouldn't be thinking.

Night Shots
I don't post many night shots. I don't go out at night very often and I don't currently have a tripod, so those are my excuses. But I love it out there and I want pictures of it. So here's one of my street.
It's usually night when I post, a night like this one. I'm in my chair with my dog snoring at my feet and my laptop (where else?) in my lap. I wear the most comfortable clothes in my wardrobe, which, coincidentally, are also the ugliest. A glass of water sits on the table beside me. A notepad. A pen. On winter nights, the heater's running.
In summer, I do the whole thing on the front porch, except for the ugly clothes part. (Boz, our dog, knows the words "front porch.") Don't ask my neighbors about Boz's early morning perambulation. I do not get dressed up for that.
