Zen Monday: #177

Because this is a very special Monday, at least for Pasadena, we have two kinds of Zen today. First, we have Zen Zen.

Then we have Zen Monday Zen.

Please share your opinions, wisdom and wisecracks in the comments.

I like both of your zens.... Beautiful rose and the Christmas tree remains brought a smile to my face.

Happy New Year.

Love the sentimentality of the first one... the second one is real smart azz which I love the humor of.

Happy Rose Parade Day! This is a lovely dewey rose. And the chained recepticle for Christmas past is very clever.

Two great photos for today!

Beautiful and hilarious, Petrea. A fine start to the new year.

Instead of the Rose Parade, it reminds me of Gertrude Stein (the first one, that is!)

I'm watching the parade right now, which of course made me think of you!

I'm watching it, too. It strikes me how old-fashioned is a parade (in a good way). What a delightful extravaganza.

Good morning, everyone!

A friend who checks my posts on Facebook said "A perfect rose with dew on it...and the poor forgotten xmas trees have a new location. The old year is left behind and a new year begins fresh and wonderful." I wish I'd thought of that.

I think you should publish a series of books called 'Where's Boz' Butt?'

Many thanks for the video link to the Parade, Petrea. It's the first time I've ever seen it and I was blown away.

I've already published it on my blog, Cliff, I might as well just put it all together and send it to Random House. Or Harlequin.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Dive. It's a beautiful day for a parade and this year's was a winner. (It's still going on, by the way, if you're at the east end of town.)

I wept at the parade, and was thrilled to wave (from my end of the TV in Texas) at Ann on the Kiwanis float!

I like the rose. Was that shot with a macro lens?

Boz is showing what he thought of this year's Christmas season.
The Parade was fabulous. Beautiful sunny blue sky. Pasadena looked quite grand. Hours and hours of hard work really paid off. I loved the Trader Joe's float. The marching bands, the horses, everything. No one does it better than Pasadena.

Beautiful rose. Boz, handsome from any angle, looks like a reindeer.

I went to City Hall for Occupy the Rose Parade. There were great signs and powerful speeches. Wish I'd gotten down there earlier to catch the floats in the parade.

I hope Ann had fun, Gina. She has fans all over the world.

That's just the Canon's macro setting, Steve. with a macro lens you can shoot close-ups of the water drops, or get the texture of the petals.

Steven, once again I agree with everything you said.

Susan, you saw a part of the festivities that wasn't shown on KTLA's live stream. I would have liked to have seen it, and I'm sorry they didn't show it because it's part of the whole thing.

Beautiful rose with the droplets resting on the petals!

And I'm glad the Christmas trees have found a new resting place, complete with pine fragrance...

That would make a jolly goof Christmas card. You should put it on your on-line store

Lots of nice people saying nice things. I've been saying a lot of thank yous and I'm not stopping now.

Thank you, Ysabelle, and happy new year to you.

Thanks, PA. I have to find a new online store. (Lovely printing but terrible customer service.) I took down their link but you can still find them via my website.

That's a nice wish, Chieftess. And it's already done (at our house, not in Pasadena, though I'll bet Colorado Blvd.'s already almost back in shape).

I watched the parade yesterday and was proud to see two marching bands from the Indianapolis area, the Ben Davis Giants from about 2 miles away, and the Avon HS marching band about 7 miles from where I live. Almost felt like a parent, bursting with tears of joy.

I know, you think you're going to be all stand-offish because it's hokey, then all of a sudden you're hokey, too.
