Accompanied

On the sidewalk outside of Tiffany on a Friday night in Old Town, these guys sang a capella harmonies. Song after song, they sounded great and I wasn't the only one who thought so.

The crowd loved them. People put money in their bucket. And this kid could not stop dancing. The more he danced, the more money landed in the bucket.

The kid was with his family. He wasn't a shill.

He'd make a good one, though.

Now you're going to have to start posting videos, Petrea. I would love to hear their singing and watch the little kid dance.

I thought the same thing when I was there. The music was so good, and the little boy was having such a good time. The crowd was really enjoying it, too. A fun evening for everyone.

I love it!

WV: Jumpow. Really.

What were they singing? A Capella doesn't strike me as danceablle. I'm going to see if they're back tonight - kid as well. What a great dancer!

Maybe "Jumpow" is the boy's name. I still feel bad that I didn't get the name of the group.

You can make all sorts of rhythms vocally, Bellis, plus you can clap, and everyone was clapping to the music. They sang R&B favorites with "sha-la" back-up notes, some Motown kind of stuff, very danceable.

Love Old Town, happy you got to see all this. A nice way to spend a Friday evening. We have singers too, at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. So many talented people in the world. I wish they could all be appreciated as they should be. Have a lovely weekend.

I hope these guys will be there tonight, Susan. Or maybe not. If they get hired to entertain at a party or a show, that would be better for them.

Hi Patricia--yes, I love Pike Place. It somehow manages to remain interesting and vital despite its lofty place in the tourist attraction hierarchy. It seems even the locals like it.

I wish we had more street entertainers here. Somehow, those we do get are more irritating than entertaining. Too bad.

Irritating street performers. Like talking mimes? Or those people who pretend to be statues?

kids are always the best schills.

I love this scene of American life, and the free spirit of the boy.
And now I learned a new word, shill.

Yeah, those street mimes creep me out too.

There were other children dancing, but this boy kept coming back. He just couldn't get enough.

Fun post! It would have been great to post of video of them, hear them sing and watch the boy dance. He looks like he was really in to it!

I've got to get a camera that'll shoot video. I can do a little bit with my Olympus, but nothing I'd post!
