Zen Monday: #145

or

It's a Zen Monday twofer!

Today's the day you experience the photo(s) and tell us what you've learned. If you've been lurking, I hope today's the day you'll jump in.

Is this your first Zen Monday? Just say what the pictures make you think of or feel. Usually I post one photo, but today I thought two views of the subject might enlighten you further. There's no right or wrong, no secret, no prize. Just have fun.

That's a fun sculpture, but aren't you just itching to find out what secrets lie hidden beneath those upturned plastic boxes?

Is there a story behind this?

This is the prototype for the next Stonehenge.

Whatever those things are, they're artfully disguised.

Aha! I heard a rumor that Japanese squirrels have been released into the Arroyo, and you've confirmed it. These squirrels are known - indeed feared - for their Zen garden-like constructions on people's water meters. It's thought they're comparable to the female-attracting bowers of male Bower birds.

Hello! I just stumbled upon your blog - I'm your newest follower. The stones actually remind me of something I saw at a Mayan ruin in the Yucatan Peninsula.... only the Mayans were decorating tombs and these are probably just some rocks that kids placed there! Nice blog.

Photo #1 reminds me of a bird, like a hawk, with its head in profile. Maybe the stones are enchanted and when the sunlight hits them at a particular angle, a door to another dimension opens.... Or not.....

You never know what you're going to find in the Arroyo. I have no idea what these things are. Perhaps it's as simple as Public Works needing to weight down some plastic, but I like the more fanciful ideas.

Welcome to the new commenters!
Autumn Belle, thank you for stopping by. I enjoyed your post the other day.
Tracy, your blog makes me hungry. Thanks for joining in.

Smurfhenge. I'm picturing the little blue druids right now, tottering around the Arroyo, their teeny voices raised in a weird chant, freaking out the coyotes.

I've had computer issues since last week...just catching up.

I'm thinking it is a family of irrigation control centers, using the boxes to cover them (and now, apparently surfacing) and their loved ones, in the Jewish tradition, have stopped by and left a rock on their graves.

How sad, so many of them died and were buried in the same spot and ALL are surfacing! And how sad the family brought so MANY big rocks to remember them by.

I wish we could read street script for the names on the boxes and I'd REALLY like to know who brought the gazunta rock separating the green boxes from the white one!

In the words of Charlie Brown. "All I got were rocks."

Ha ha, Trish, yeah, that really is sad.

Maybe Charlie Brown is sadder. I can't decide.

That's okay, Chieftess. Here we get to make it up.
