There's a lot going on this weekend in Pasadena, especially Saturday.1. The Doo Dah Parade. Eau mai gawd.
2. Arlington Garden's sixth anniversary celebration.
3. The grand opening of Reese's Retreat (9am-1pm).
4. And if you're bookish (I'm bookish!--and you thought I was American) there's the LA Times Festival of Books, not in Pasadena but too close for comfort. This year it's being held at USC instead of UCLA. I don't know why, do you? Anything to do with football rivalry?
5. Plus, if you have energy left after Saturday, Sunday there's the Altadena Home Tour.

Festival of Books is at USC this year? Hmm, this changes things...
I'll be at the book festival.
They changed the site because the traffic, parking and lack of public transportation made getting to and from UCLA a nightmare.
And let's not forget USC (my alma mater) is more centrally located!

Is that good or bad, J.J.? Like Karen says, USC is more accessible, but is it accessible, if you know what I mean? The website should have info.
The website says the USC campus is A.D.A. Compliant. That's got to be better than that monumental hill in the middle of the festival at UCLA.

So much fun stuff to do there this weekend! (Although I'd also be happy just sitting around in this colorful garden.) I'm looking forward to spending Sunday in SF with my mom seeing the Balenciaga exhibit and colossal ancient Mexican stone heads at the De Young, lunch in North Beach, then the matinee of Beach Blanket Babylon.
Beach Blanket Babylon is about as old as the film (and tower) for which it's named, Katie. That must be one of the longest-running shows in history! Let us know how it goes.
Yes, the LATimes moved it to a new, closer location at USC. Now, it's just south down the Pasadena FW & close to the LATimes.
The new site is a breath of fresh air. So it should be better than ever!
Just got back from the Book Festival. The new USC location is great. The shuttles to and from Union Station were the only thing that wasn't well-organized. But the train ride is a vacation and the Festival is a circus--the good kind.
