Fyre Guard

Fyre Guard doesn't have much of a web presence so I can't tell you any more about the business than what we see in the photo. The place was closed when I took the picture and there wasn't anyone to ask. Still, I love the look of the place. Click on the picture to enlarge it and contemplate all those fire extinguishers in need of fixing.

as I recall, they've been around for near on forever.

but I DO recall hearing my grandfather tell me about a fyre that broke out nearby once. It took all his effort to explain it to me because Grandad was laughing SO hard. Something along the lines of a firehouse breaking out in fire.

all I can think about looking at the the pic: "I'd guess there is not much market for empty, used fire extinguishers" Folks would have to come to them to have them refilled---or use them as a weapon---not much other use!

I like it too. And their solidarity with New York's Fire Department.

Hee hee, Lori Lynn!

I imagine you can have as many as you want, Dina, but I don't think they're much good. Yet.

Magiceye, you've got that right.

Sounding like an American commercial for an "Irish" soap, Shell.

Hi Katherine! I thought about using it for one of my Zen Monday posts, but since we've had such serious fires here I didn't want to poke fun at fire. But yeah, it makes me kind of scratch my head and wonder.

Glad you think it's cute, Hiker. I accept you as the authority.

Maybe station 37 on Foothill, Trish? Or maybe one that's not there anymore. That was the closest I could find. http://www.ci.pasadena.ca.us/StationDirectory.aspx

I like the home spun graphics and multiple type faces. Sort of sweet

I think Shell is getting ready for talk like a pirate day on the 19th. I guess even pirates need fire extinguishers.

Is this just below Foothill - next to the little Mexican food place - (Rosarito's? -- It's been too long since I've been there apparently).

Love the cute fire hydrants, Greg. Even when they're plain yellow, I always smile at their little faces.

I walk past Fyre Guard quite often, on my way to In-N-Out. Each time I pass, there seems to be another photo opp. I don't think I posted any of the photos yet. If/when I do, I'll be sure to link to this post.

Thanks for your continued comments on my site!

I agree, PA, it's kind of a sweet-looking place. I ought to go on a weekday and just see what's up. Take my fire extinguisher and see if they can show me how to use it.

Y Y, Margaret!

Well hello, Steph. Yes it is, Foothill and Craig. That's exactly the place, around the corner from In 'n Out burger, not that I would know.

Greg that is insane.

Sorry Bellis, but it is. I mean that in the best way.

May Fyre Guard be there for you all when you need it. What a great little business. Petrea, only you would find this special place.

I suspect it was probably 36 on FO, or possibly 33 on Lake or one that no longer exists. Don't remember when 37 came to be but I recall 36, 38 and 39 clearly as a kid---but Grandad would have been talking about a fire somewhere in the 1950's or 60's range I'd guess.

We actually saw one near us last summer---a station had a HUGE grill on their 2nd story deck...and it ended up catching something on fire. ooops!

Love all the different fonts and fire extinguishers in this photo. And"Jay Bee's Refinishing" which doesn't quite go with the theme.

Petrea Burchard said...

It's a little tough to see it in the photo, but Jay Bee's is indicated by an arrow. Jay Bee's Furniture Refinishing is behind Fyre Guard. I ought to get a shot of that, too.

Speaking of guarding from fire, ooh, John, Boz and I met some firefighters fresh off the hill tonight. They're still on duty and won't have much computer access until 9/22, so that's when I'll post the photos. These are darling men and they are also tough hombres. Stay tuned.

Oh thanks, JT! I don't know how I missed your comment. I'd love to bump into you one of these days, either at In 'n Out Burger or at Fyre Guard.
