I ran into Cafe Observer last night. Each of us was stricken, in the same moment of Pasadena night-time magic, with an inability to pass by City Hall without taking photos. So there we were in the courtyard snapping away, freezing our fingers and jawing.
This photo was taken from across Euclid Avenue in the Plaza Las Fuentes next to All Saints Church. My camera's lens refused to include both City Hall and it's reflection in one of the fountain pools. C.O.'s camera allowed both, but he needed a tripod. I happened to have one. I think I won't tell you who pressed the button. Thank you, Cafe Observer, for letting me post our photo here.
Happy first day of Chanukah, by the way. (Well, first night - the holiday begins at sundown.) I know about as much about Pasadena synagogues as I do about Pasadena churches, so I googled. The Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center and Chabad of Pasadena each have events today, and Chabad of Pasadena invites the public to menorah lightings on December 22nd, 23rd and 24th at 5pm in the courtyard at One Colorado. I think that sounds fab.

Great product of collaboration! I've never seen it with a reflection - just thrilling, so crystal clear. & here is to always being prepared.
(how did you recognize C.O.? is he as cute a pup as his picture?)
How could Petrea not recognize him - CO's the handsomest doggy around! (Don't tell her boxer she was running around with another dog last nite.)
Besides, I'm sure last nite she needed his guard dog protection.
I think they collaborated a couple months ago with the ADena Horse/Hiker while on tour somewhere. I can hardly wait to see those photos!
Ooh, it looks like a fairytale castle! Good teamwork.
Happy Chanukah to you too. Hope you get a free soofganiya (jelly doughnut) from the Chabadniks and some pictures.
Thanks for enduring the cold and working together to bring us this amazing photo!
C.O. and I had met before (as L.O. somehow knew, gee whiz) when we managed to badger the knowledgeable, delightful Timothy Rutt of Altadenablog into leading me, C.O. and the Altadena Hiker on a tour of one of Pasadena's historic neighborhoods.
Though it was early evening, the building was deserted but for the security guards. I was glad to have C.O. there. Good company and added security.
Dina, I'll be looking for that soofganiya. And Chabadniks! The Yiddish words are as rich as the food.
You're welcome, Katie, and I'm sure C.O. would say the same. I hardly noticed the cold (at least at first). It's hard to stop photographing City Hall once you start.
Very cool! Collaboration at the blogging level is really cool.
Great collab you two. Peter and I had a grand time with out Paris photo share as well. I am trying to think of a way to con him into just doing my Paris blog for about a week. I don't think he'll buy it.
Your shot is marvelous. Coming from a duffer that can't get a good night shot that's probably not comforting but I do know a good one when I SEE it!

Beautiful photo! Were your fingers really freezing? In Pasadena?
Well done, you two! It's been too shivery cold for me to venture out for any night time pictures the last few days. This one is just beautiful!
Petrea, "won't tell you who pressed the button." Hohoho!
It was the liberal, P, of course who had her finger on the button! I'm too much of a peaceful K9 to press the button."
Plus, she has too an good an eye for framing shots compared to me.
Otherwise, P, our teamwork was such an enjoyable experience we hardly noticed the icy cold. We need to do this more often than just every few months.
1 more thing: I barked to KB 2day. She has the tour pics & may blog them! So, U2 should COLLABORATE on that!
Plus 1 more thing: we weren't "freezing our fingers & jawing." Well, ok yes, she was.
Instead, in my case I was freezing my paws & barking at her.
This sounds/looks like great fun for a beautiful result. Tandem blogging!
Love night shots like these. Especially such a great building. Great teamwork!
And happy Chanukah...
Well done! Hand and paw they go to the next assignment.
Tripod is key, Virginia. It's the only way, in fact. All those nifty little settings are useless without it.
Yes, Saretta, in the high 30s (Fahrenheit) last night, I think. 32 is the freezing point. Frost on the grass this morning and snow on the mountaintops!
Yes, it was good teamwork. And Cafe Observer is very well-trained. Generally if you have a canine with you in the downtown area he has to be on a leash, but he was well-behaved.
This is an amazing picture. Thankyou!
It was our pleasure, mysticsmuses.
