Zen Monday #267

How about some actual Zen for Zen Monday? I mean, you know, Zen. What feels Zen-like to you?

  1. The zen of garden maintenance: listen to the plants, they will tell you what they need.

  2. Lovely hidden pond
    With sun bathing green water
    Yearns for a reader

  3. So different from our usual snarky Zen Monday! Lovely haiku, Eric. Bellis, you remind me that gardening is meditation, not work. And Lauren, you remind me of why it's worth it.

  4. Being finally finished with all the big pieces for a mag I'm working on. That is zen. Peace.

  5. Oh, such a great place to visit, now and zen.

  6. Being finished. Laura, it's a dream of mine. I always start something new before I finish the old thing so it's my fault I'm never finished.

I agree, Karin. Loved the gentleman gardener.

PA, it's the Storrier Stearns. If you haven't seen it, try it out. I'll post the link.

  7. Beautiful spot! Sitting by this pond on a warm day in a comfy reclining chair with a good book would be zen enough for me.

  8. It's an amazing photo. Almost looks photoshopped, but I know you didn't. I love the different colors of the water, and it calms me just to look at it - which is what Japanese gardens are meant to do. I love Karin's comment.

  9. Karin made me think of my friend Randy Fuller, who writes a column about wine:

I'd like that, too, Katie. They have some good spots.

Bellis, I don't think I'd know how to use Photoshop. I used the defining tool in iPhoto, and that's it. It sharpens the photo a bit.

  10. I actually said "Oh. That's nice." out loud. So glad I'm home alone.

  11. Oh, that's nice, Book Dragon! Sometimes surfing the web is not a silent activity.

  12. Can't believe I missed it, I used to walk in that area, a lot.

  13. It's been there for a long time but only recently opened to the public, Jean. The heir to the original owners has restored the garden to its historic state.

  15. Chieftess, it's on Arlington, right across from Arlington Gardens on the south side of the street.

  16. Ah, just what I need right now -- along with a good book or two, and some fine wine.

  17. I can't believe I missed actual Zen. That makes me so angry!
