Mare Tranquillitatis

The main trails at Eaton Canyon were crowded yesterday. Although a few small signs warned of the possibility of flash floods, moms, dads, babies, uncles, grandmas, dogs and ripe old relatives crowded the fast-moving stream in the wash, enjoying a sunny day out.

John, Boz and I found quiet trails that most others missed. Lucky us.

    Hard to say which is reflection, now that I look at it, but that aspic idea is right, Julie! It was a very small pond, but the light was so pretty.

    Vanda's absolutely right--winter in the Los Angeles area is spring, summer and fall. But not winter.

    And Dina, I don't think you're right, much as I'd like to. We're fortunate to have Boz (he is tranquil, it's true) and places to go to help us find our way back to our centers.

    Chieftess, what have you been drinking? Though I can see why you could have misread it.

    Winter here means golden leaves and green grass. I love the reflections in the water of this small pond. Was the main river running across the trail?

    Nothing yet Bellis, though the Chief got a "gun" filled with tequila for Christmas and his brother just brought up two bottles!!! This is going to be a wild week!!!

    Ach! I love a parade, it's the traffic and crowding I don't love. I'll have to stock up on some good tequila (none of that merde stuff).

    Yes, it was running, Bellis, and impassable if you wanted to stay dry, though many people crossed it. Found myself wishing for waders again.

    I love that description of southern California winters: the other three seasons wrapped into one. Great photo, as usual. I need to get some waders and get back to Eaton Canyon.

    Beautiful photo; easy to get lost in the alternating depths and heights. As much as I like looking at all the East Coast blizzard photos I've been getting today from family there, I much prefer a winter scene like this one. Glad you all found a hidden trail to hike.
