The first of the month is theme day for City Daily Photo bloggers (of which there are now a whopping 933). As soon as I heard the theme was "yellow," I began seeing more yellow cars, signs and neon than I'd ever noticed before. You'd think such a broad theme would be simple, but cars, signs and neon are too easy. But when J. and I visited the Norton Simon Museum on my birthday, I caught a glimpse of this man in his yellow jacket and knew I had my shot. I was an April fool, however. The painting behind him isn't yellow. It's called Buffalo Blue, by Norman Zammitt.

An elegant simplicity

Aw, I'll give the painting credit ... it's not all blue even though the artist may think of it as blue ... score on the yellow slicker, though ... no mistaking or argument there. Happy theme day, Petrea!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Petrea.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous. The painting with the visitor in yellow. Perfect, Petrea.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow of the jacket is beautifully reflected by the yellow in the painting. It's a lovely shot, Petrea!
ReplyDeleteThere are shades of yellow through the gallery. Very understated, Petrea.
ReplyDeleteOh well done! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love the shot of him sitting there alone. That painting looks yellowish to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Happy theme day, everyone. May all your April fools be fun ones.
ReplyDeleteSpot on. Great entry today.

Love it. Great choice for today's theme.
ReplyDeletePetrea this is elegant, I agree with Sally. The subtle colors are just beautiful, and the painting is so eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteVery well done. Yellow is a very underestimated color.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that Norman accidentally got into the April Fools spirit with his painting's name.
ReplyDeleteI like the muted light in this one.
How clever, Petrea! My favourite 'yellow shot' so far, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great catch! Sometimes I'm disappointed when photos are not allowed in museums.
ReplyDeleteLovely theme day photo!
ReplyDeleteI agree I wanted anything but daffodils and sunsets. This is such a lovely balanced composition, subtle hues and of course the painting being a blue made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteYellow, yellow everywhere. Isn't it funny how when we really start looking for something, we start seeing it everywhere! Nice shot, Petrea--way to wait for the right thing to come along.
ReplyDeleteNice photo for the theme day.
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, P. This is really stunningly beautiful. Wow & Wow.
ReplyDeleteYour example of yellow is one of my favorites!
