I don't mind the advertising. Every business has to advertise. But they think they were serving our house for 6 years after they stopped, which tells me all I need to know about their record-keeping.
In March, Dish network tried to collect on an old debt via robo calls and letters. Thing is, I've never had Dish, not at any address. I finally ended up sending a letter to the Dish president, demanding they issue a letter acknowledging such, and an apology. A month later, their "Investigation Board" sent both. I'm keeping that letter.
Karin, I can't imagine how they get it so wrong, but they do. Regularly.
William, Charter was a headache that's been over (for us) for more than 6 years. I guess the people who work there are still suffering from it, though.
I see it's not only here this kind of situations happen. My first internet connection, lond ago, gave me a real headache, it simply didn't work and I gave up the service. However, THAT company kept sending me bills for one year. Surreal!
My heart sank when I heard they were taking over Time Warner. More trapped customers, more unannounced price hikes. Prices only come down when I try to cancel, but I'm sick of playing that game. Who provides your internet?
really Bellis? if I threaten to cancel? I just have internet and it beguiles me to no end to get messages of what a 'valued customer' I am while they wring me dry with price hikes.
It's worth a try, PA. But then you might have to back it up. They can only raise the price if we need them, which is why a monopoly is such a bad idea and why John and I got off TV in the first place. There aren't a lot of options around here for TV. There are plenty of options for internet.
We are using AT&T for our internet, Bellis. Just another huge corporation. I have no particular loyalty, but the service has been fine. I don't use them for phone but John does.
Ach!!! I throw away reams of paper in all this advertising! But I'd rather do that than get those darned solicitations on the phone! Periodically it's a good thing to have your account with these companies reviewed to see if you can get any price breaks...sometimes it helps...sometimes not. And you really don't have to threaten to cancel!

Unreal... or would be, but for the fact that this type of thing happens with alarming regularity!
I hate these come-on ads..AT&T is notorious as well as Time Warner...

It sounds like a headache!

I think yours and Karin's (AltadenaHiker) are worse than mine. At least this didn't cost me anything I didn't owe!
Not yet, anyway.
A lot of them are such disorganized rackets! Good thing they don't have you listed as having an outstanding bill. (fingers crossed...)
Hey, anything can happen.
