Wilma's Holiday

Wilma behaved beautifully last night and didn't bark at any trick-or-treaters. After the festivities, I asked her how she was feeling.

"Bring me a lemon coke, child," she said. "Mama needs to rest."

Wilma is naturally vigilant, so finding her at peace is special. And as long as she doesn't take the fence down chasing squirrels, she's staying here!

Great photo. Some deep thoughts going on in that head. Or maybe it is just the lemon coke. It took my boys about 14 years to stop barking at TorTs. This year I think Winter rather enjoyed greeting them, in his bucking bull complete with ride-em-cowboy costume.

The way she's sitting makes me laugh. Is that a new fence? Perhaps she's thinking, "I can easily knock that down or jump it."

I hope you took pictures, Betty.

Bellis, she always sits like that. She's quirky.
As for the fence, we put it up in the summer to keep her from peeing on the tomatoes. It served its purpose.

Love the perspective on this. And the name Wilma is very southern, so lemon coke sounds like the proper choice.

The name came with her, PA. It wouldn't have been our choice. But as far as we could tell, she'd had it for a long time. We thought it fair to let her keep it, so she's Wilma, our sweet, asymmetrical girl.

She's settling in nicely!

She is, Chieftess. They say it takes about 6 months for a shelter dog to completely adjust, to feel safe and confident. We've had her 4 1/2 months. The longer she's here the more comfortable we all are!
