Goodreads Giveaway

I didn't plan to post again before Monday, but I can't leave you out of this until then, and honestly, it wouldn't be appropriate to mention it then because Zen Monday doesn't have anything to do with books unless it's about books, as you well know.

I'm having a Goodreads Giveaway of Camelot & Vine through the month of May. Just go to the link, scroll down to the button that says "Enter to Win," and sign up. If you're not a Goodreads member you might have to join, but it's easy and it's free. (US and Canada only, sorry. Did you know it costs something like $45 to mail a book to the UK or OZ?)

Friend me while you're there, okay?

Thoughts on what's on Boz's mind? Just because it's not Zen Monday doesn't mean you can't jot them down in the comments.

LOTS of people have entered to win! xoxox

I'm really happy about it, Savannah. I hope more people will enter because it increases awareness. So far, though, the odds are still pretty good for winning.

Boz is thinking, Oh no, there she goes again giving away the book I publish. How am I going to become a rich publisher if she's so generous?

Petrea Burchard said...

You're right, Bellis. I keep trying to explain to him you have to spend money to make money, but he equates money with kibble and refuses to give any kibble away.

Too bad there isn't an international flat rate ... usps even offers a 'book and video rate' which is considerably less than $45.

Petrea Burchard said...

I can't find it on their website, KBF. I know it's cheaper in the US, but I have no idea if media mail even goes overseas.

Kalei's Best Friend said...

I don't think the p.o. checks to see if what is sent is really media/book.. I think they figure people would be honest...
try this:https://www.usps.com/ship/first-class-package-international-service.htm?

also on the left is 'express media mail' (which must include international price since I googled international media/book

I will say when I mailed a book to a friend in Dover, the rate was no where as high as what u stated... then again, I mailed it w/some other items... When my oldest lived in Italy, (items went thru customs).. she told me that other students told her to have whatever sent from the u.s. was to be marked 'no value'... my friend from dover was always sending me things via soft pak envelopes... rates were cheaper vs. sending in a media box like we have...

my daughter mailed stuff from the US to Brazil and it cost more that what she mailed! I think it was $30 but I don't remember.

I hope you get lots of reviews!

Thanks, KBF. I know about media mail but I can't find anything about it on the USPS website, even at your link. First Class is way more expensive. The postal rates have changed a lot in the last couple of years.

BD, I hope I do, too! Good or bad, I can take it! I think.

Boz: "You're interrupting the story right at an exciting part! Mom, keep reading!"

Bellis said...

Your book is heavy, which is why the postage to Europe is high. But every page is worth it. I wanted it to be three times as long.

There are mail packs that cost a set amount no matter what you put in them. I used to fill a package with lots of things for just $10, but I guess that, too, has changed.

Petrea Burchard said...

Thanks, KBF. It was worth a try.

Ms M, he likes the part about Cavall.

Thank you, Bellis. I guess I'll have to go to the post office because their website isn't helping! But in my experience, they're still cheaper than UPS and FedEx.

Hate to say this, but maybe giving a Kindle book version would of been easier and cheaper?

Goodreads requires actual books, not virtual, for its giveaways.

The problem, as Boz likely sees it, is that each book you give away is like SEVEN books! (in dog books...)

Thought you'd want to see the note a friend sent me today. I recommended C&V just after I read it:

Hi. Thanks for recommending Camelot & Vine - just finished it and it was GREAT! Just my thing.
Thanks again,
Sharon

Petrea Burchard said...

Okay, the big laugh came first (1 book is 7 dog books!), then your comment from Sharon. That kind of review from someone who doesn't know me is the best, it makes my day!

Good luck to all who entered. I already got my copy here in the UK and I can heartily recommend it as a great read, fabulous and unputdownable. Petrea is simply brilliant at everything she does.
I think Boz is just waiting for the audiobook version.

Boz is still peeved that you didn't call it Camelot & Whine.

What a lovely giveaway, Petrea!

{1 book = 7 in dog books ~ heh!!}

Delightful surprise to see your sweet faces appear on my Google reader. We miss you :). Just about to watch a horse race that Camelot won last year.

I got mine already for winning another contest!

Boz: "My mom is such a ham."

Meant to add that I have one of your photos on my blog post today(with credit, of course).

I'm happy to find your comments this morning! Glad you're still here.

Dive, thank you! The audio version is in the planning stages, for sure.

Elaine!!!!

"Camelot & Whine." Shell, I love that.

I'm betting on Camelot to win, Lauren.

Great post, Ann! I'll be at Litfest in my Boz Books booth. Can't wait to see everybody. Tomorrow, I'll be at Lunafest at Descanso Gardens, donating proceeds of sales to Bloom Again Foundation.

Do you all think I should institute the comment/reply option so my answers directly follow the comments they respond to?

Bozz has a baby blanket

Petrea Burchard said...

Yes he does. He has a stinky, hairy, baby blanket.

Good luck!

Thanks, Margaret. You recommended the Goodreads Giveaway to me more than once, and now that I've finally gotten it going I'm really excited.
