Enchanted Grove

On a perfect day, while strolling through a shaded oak grove, you come upon a beautiful, young princess playing a harp.

Be careful. She could be dangerous. There is such a thing as faerie.

If it weren't for the small camera crew and the microphone stand, I might have thought the grove was enchanted. Instead, we chatted briefly with harpist Charissa Barger, and she granted me this lovely photo. Then we moved on, so they could shoot their video.

Do check her website. She plays weddings, concerts for children, etc., and she was every bit as pleasant as she looks. Thank you, Charissa.

How enchanting to discover Charissa on your walk in the grove! I'll check her website and post the video they took here. This is a fabulous photo as well -- I like the tree branch showing through the harp that almost seems like part of the instrument.

Let's see what we find, JS.

Truly, KBF, I thought I was in a fairy tale.

We've been taking two walks, Margaret: one for us, and one for Boz. If we only do the latter we don't get any exercise.

Katie, I never even noticed the branch!

Magical find! Harp music is so beautiful. How fitting to be played in a wooded place.

Gosh, it's like something out of Camelot and Vine. You time travelled! Was this a video for her website?

She began to play a bit as we retreated, Ms M. Lovely stuff.

Bellis, I don't know the answer to your question. We didn't want to take too much of their time because they were working, but they were pleasant. I sent her the link to today's post and I hope she'll let us know what she was up to.

I can't help associating harps with weddings, Petrea. Such a romantic instrument, so the setting fits beautifully. A walk for you and a separate walk at Boz's pace ~ you're such a caring mum!

The voice of the harp is otherworldly and so is your photo.

Ohhh...how lovely to come upon this!!! I love harp music!! And perfect in a wooded atmosphere like this!

I felt lucky when I saw her--the setting, the harp, the dress, her beauty. What a combination.

Shell, John walks with us, too. I want to give him lots of credit.

It felt that way, Dina.

I thought of you when I posted it, Lauren, because of your email.

Lucky was I, Chieftess.

All I find in my wood are mushrooms and chestnuts. Pasadena is truly a magical place, Petrea.

What a happy accident! I'd love to hear harp music in the Haha.

Mushrooms and chestnuts are fine treasures, Dive. My father used to take us to a little grove where we picked fresh walnuts off the ground.

Hiker, it kind of reminded me of the art exhibit in the grove five or six years ago, only more ethereal.

Wow, that is truly a magical find. Everything about this shot is gorgeous: the trees, the harp, the woman, her dress. I'm listening to her music now. Yep, beautiful too.

I only come across naked guy or diaper guy. Never fairies

Petrea Burchard said...

Susan, the closest thing to enchantment I've seen in the real world in a long time.

PA, I have seen diaper guy in these very environs. I even photographed him for this blog, and now I can't find him. I wonder what I filed him under. It was an art installation in the Oak Grove a few years back.

What a moment to experience. Diaper Guy? I want to see him!

Petrea Burchard said...

Maybe Bellis will chime in here again and help us out. Diaper Guy was one participant in an art installation Bellis and I went to in the Oak Grove about four years ago, maybe more. I can't remember the name of the installation, but if I could, I might be able to find the post.

Straight from a fairytale book, but real life - even better! I love the way you framed this, ethereal.

What a sight! The enchanted forest it is!

Regarding your comment: I took lots of photos of the magazine presentation preparations, but the place got too crowded when the guests arrived and I didn't manage to get a proper wider view of the room.
