On Colorado Blvd.

I want to share a music video with you. A night shot would have been better but I didn't have one, and there are plenty of night shots in the video.

The song is On Colorado Blvd. by Steven Rue. ("Rue" means street or road in French. Coincidence?)

The singer is Liela Avila. What a voice, huh? I haven't heard her sing anything else, but I think she's fab.

This building must be historic, but I couldn't find any information about it. Perhaps you know something? The Kate Spade store is 39 W. Colorado Blvd.

Thanks much to Paula Johnson's flash fiction site, Rose City Sisters, for the song.

Very cool. I'm gonna play it a few more times to battle the grey skies outside of my window.

Hi KBF. I was surprised to discover she's so young. I don't know much about jazz but I love her voice.

Ben, I hope it brings out the sun for you! Sometimes you have to look for it, but it's always there.

How much do I love that Pasadena has its own theme song!? And I agree, Liela ROCKS. Sometime I'll get my sister over and we'll sing you the them song from our home town, Rochester, Minnesota... (I'm not kidding, there is one.)

@Petrea: the jazz snobs may consider her music 'fusion jazz'...lol but I love her voice... looked on Amazon to see if she had any cd's, sadly she doesn't...She needs a good agent to market her!!

Michelle, I warn you, next time I see the two of you together I will ask.

KBF, she'll be a star soon enough, I'm sure of it.

Sweet! It's almost as pretty at night as it is during the day.

At last, a song for Old Town Pasadena's youthful image. I've become a Little Old Lady from Pasadena and don't go there at night anymore, but it's a thriving, buzzing, beautifully kept town center and we're very lucky to have it.

What a beautiful voice! And it's all hers, not a lot of "sweetener" added, as you hear with so many so-called artists.

About 30 years ago, a radio station ran a contest to pick the Pasadena theme song. I don't know if anyone won, but I think this is it, right here. Hope the city--or at least the C of C--notices. And the fact that it was shot around Rose Parade time makes it even better.

I was at Fiesta Parade Floats Dec. 28 & 29 and the Norton Simon rose was still being decorated and the video was posted Jan. 5, so (unless this was taken last RP), it was probably shot around Dec. 30-31, 2012.

Good sleuthing, Laura!

I have a feeling we'll be hearing more from these musicians very soon.

I love Old Town but I never thought of it as sexy, but her voice puts it in a different light entirely. This song is much better for the city's image than "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena." Bellis, you have become no such thing!
