Thanksgiving

I think it's a good idea to have a day set aside for thanksgiving. I'm a positive person and I count my blessings more than once a year, but it's good to be reminded. What a great holiday. A whole day set aside for being thankful.

I thought of listing the things I'm thankful for, but you know what happens--the list gets too long. Of course that's why we do it--to remind ourselves how long our list is. My husband, my dog, my home, my friends, my life...how fortunate I am.

Blessings on you!

Perhaps Thanksgiving is a little like Valentine's ~ it's great to express love and gratitude all year round, but why not also have a special day dedicated to such things! Blessings right back at you, dear Petrea.

I wholeheartedly agree. It's a great day for hanging with friends and family and for giving thanks (and eating, of course). How lovely it would be to carry the thankful attitude throughout the year.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Petrea. As Shell says, blessings back at you.

Love the old tree.

Gorgeous and contemplative photo - perfect to celebrate this day of giving thanks. And I too agree that it's great to have a whole day to focus on being thankful. Enjoy the day everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I'm thankful to have a quiet day to catch up on writing. And thankful that the dead tree is still standing, because the hawks love to sit on the top branches and enjoy the Hahamongna scenery (or are they looking for dinner?)

Bellis, have you been to the Arroyo this morning? We were thinking of walking there but I'm curious to know if we'll be restricted because of last night's accident.

What accident? Nothing in Star-News or the blogs....

In addition to family and friends and two new grandsons, I am thankful for Medicare after 4 1/2 years without insurance. So on this Great American Holiday, I'm thankful that so many Americans don't mind paying a littl more in taxes to makes sure we have healthcare.

Let's try again, without the typos. Pity there's no edit facility after posting, as with Facebook.

Laura, the Star-News is asleep, so well done the Pasadena Sun:

Everything's been cleared away, even the car - incredibly efficient. Just some business cards and full Heineken bottles. I was tempted, but I guess they still belong to the driver.

Blessings all, on the house!

They say the worst night of the year for drunk driving is the night before Thanksgiving. I don't know who "they" are, I heard it from a friend.

I hope the driver is okay. The article doesn't say he was drinking. Are we sure those bottles were his? Because if they're not, I like a beer now and then.

Laura, I'm happy to pay a little extra so people can have health care, as opposed to a lot extra, to cover all the other costs we incur when our citizens are unhealthy.

Dina, I am thankful for the cease-fire in your country.

Nice choice for your photograph today and thoughtful words too. Have a lovely day, Petrea :).

Sure those bottles are the driver's, they're mixed up with the remains of the wreckage, but he'd likely just gone to Vons to buy a 6-pack for Thanksgiving. None of them had been opened. The paper says he had a pre-existing medical condition, poor man.

A bautiful photo, Petrea, to illustrate your equally beautiful words. I love the American tradition of Thanksgiving. We should have soemthing like this in Europe - perhaps we do and I don't know about it.

I think the world could share Thanksgiving, Jilly. It's non-political and non-denominational, a day for everyone to enjoy. Go ahead and have Thanksgiving, you don't have to wait for government approval.
