I Like Punch

Was this Eagle Rock, or Highland Park?

I was on York Blvd., near Avenue 50, at a bar called The York, for a book signing. The book is Things I Want to Punch in the Face, from Prospect Park Books, and this was a few weeks ago. The author, Jennifer Worick, is currently on a book tour (I can tell from her blog). The book's doing well; the trailer gives you a good idea of what this funny book is about.

At the book signing they served punch. I like punch.

Things I want to punch in the face include labels that remove the peel when I take them off my fruit, our floor lamp that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, and gargantuan SUVs with one teeny little driver in them.

You see how I suffer.

I do not want to punch this man in the face, or anywhere else for that matter.

Drinking punch and punching labels on fruit are about my level of punching too, Petrea.

I don't want to punch anything because I'd break my hand, resulting in pain for me not the other way 'round.

Well, I am definitely not fond of men in big trucks... u know what they say about that!.... guess its the same as your dislike for big SUVs and small folk..

Oooh, shiny!
I can think of several people who might deserve a punch in the face, but I'd far rather just point and laugh at them.

Edgy venue for a book signing. Did those bikers buy the book? If so, better avoid giving the namaste greeting to a guy on a Harley.

This book has got me thinking: I want to punch in the face price labels that tear the gift when you try to take them off. And the hard, clear plastic packaging that I have to go at with a chainsaw. Agree with you about the labels on fruit. Why do they have to be there anyway?

The labels on fruit tell you whether it was genetically engineered, grown conventionally (with pesticides and fertilizers), or grown organically, but you have to know what the numbers mean. So I'm glad to have the labels but I wish they didn't peel my pears for me.

Guys on Harleys don't hold the same terror for me that they used to.

This is a fabulous photo!

Thanks, Dina, I'm glad you like it. I don't take pictures in the dark very often. It's not because I don't know how, it's because I don't get out much.

It's a very cool picture, and you beat me to the fruit labels.

I remember from years ago, a promotion by the California Raisin Board, putting labels on their raisins. You could send in for a label. I did and was told that, unfortunately, the demand for raisin labels was so overwhelming that they were all out. I didn't get my teensy, tiny label.

I'm with Dina. There's something about this photo … the combination of the out-of-focus safety glass & the hardcase in boots, under the sodium-vapor lamp …

Karin, I thought I was the only one.

Speedway, I remember the raisin labels! I was living in Illinois at the time. I wonder if that was a Midwest campaign?

Thanks, J. I like the picture, too, the more I look at it. I need to get out more at night.

I'm impressed with your out-late self! Great photo. I have several things I'd like to punch, at various and sundry times. Can't think of any right this minute. Either that's a good thing, or my creativity is waning...

Funny trailer. I love the blog's "Guest Punch" from Monday: a rant against Amazon from an anonymous former employee. I hope that's widely distributed to encourage people to support local businesses.

I'd like to punch people who don't say thank you when you hold the door open for them; instead they walk right through as if you're the hired help. And even the "hired help" deserve thank yous! No manners.

p.s. I don't see the C&V poll. Is it there? Could be due to my outdated browser.

Adele, maybe you're just non-violent, which is admirable. If you've ever been punched in the face, you know it's not a nice thing.

Susan, that's why I give the Vroman's link for books (if it's available) when I post about them. Amazon provides a service no one else provides, which is why customers like it. But the company hasn't always played fair in the marketplace.

And thanks for pointing out the poll to me. I fixed it.
