What's Inside

Something has landed in my dining room.

Yes, that's a couch pillow on top. And a blanket my sister made for me, covering the whole surprise.

I should refinish the old secretary desk, but it's been in my family for so long I've come to love its scars. I once had a cat who sharpened his claws on the drawers. Long before that, I scratched a picture of a princess inside the desk. Or maybe my sister did that. I think I did it with a paper clip, but that was the 1960's and I don't remember. I have two sisters, so that gives us three little girls to blame.

None of this explains the Mother Ship in the corner. Tomorrow: the reveal.

History... and intrigue!

I love a good mystery! And I love those character marks, too. I have an old pine table that had been restored to a pristine state when I bought it, but now has one beautiful cat's lifetime of scratches across its top and I wouldn't sand it back for quids.

Looks like a seaside changing room. Will the reveal include someone in a woolen bathing costume? Love the little pitcher on the desk.

I'm kind of excited myself! But I hope we don't have someone with a woolen bathing costume in there. I wouldn't mind the costume but what I don't want is the handlebar mustache.

Your sister (one of them) made the blanket? I'm so impressed. As to the seaside changing room - I'm guessing Boz heard about Boz Daily Photo and asked for a private room so he could sleep out of sight of the paparazzi.

My siblings (a brother and two sisters) are all geniuses, Bellis. I should have mentioned that before.

Yes, Boz is constantly hounded by puparazzi. It's the bone of his existence.

You know how to capture an audience, Petrea! Looking forward tomorrow already :).

Hmm, I'll just treat this as a Zen Monday, and assume it's some form of
Glaamping--glamorous camping--

Petrea Burchard said...

LOL, I hope you're right.

Desiree, you're getting warm. Sort of.

Petrea Burchard said...

Not really.

A life size Barack and Michelle standee? (I so want one of those).

Petrea Burchard said...

That would be nice, Dive, as long as it's a standee. If it were the real thing I'd have no idea what to serve. But I'll pick up some champagne today just in case.

Back again because Mr LOL has seen your photo. He thinks that you should be careful that your wonderful desk doesn't get 'damp' from the portable guest shower that has been fitted :).

Camelot & Vine?

Petrea Burchard said...

LOL, I'm LOLing, and I never LOL.

Hello, Diederick, hello! How nice to see you!

Speedway, yes and no. No, but maybe and maybe not. Sort of.

Fun intrigue! Is this a gift? Did you know it would appear in your dining room?

I love old furniture with history, too. The little dents and scratches, perhaps a little chew mark from some pet (or child) from long ago.

We used to have sheet at our cabin that looks like that blanket, over your standee/beach shower/The Prez & The First Lady.

We also used to live a tiny apt where the only place to put a couch or even sofa, would have been to stand it up.

LOVE the desk, my mother and grandmother used to have ones similar---lord only knows who took them. We still have a dresser that my beloved scratched first and last name into years ago. Apparently, the concept of "mine" came early to my in-law's family!

Oh my gosh, is this a suit of armor present for your birthday? I can hardly wait for tomorrow.

I still have a piano stool with the legs almost chewed off by my beloved Tessa, whom we got as a tiny puppy and who chewed and peed her way through most of my furniture before she grew up. Another puppy? No thanks.

Petrea Burchard said...

Ms. M, I will tell you this much: I put it there.

Trish, we're fortunate to have space for this monstrosity in our dining room.

Wouldn't that be great, Bellis? It would solve my dilemma as to what to photograph for the book cover.

Petrea Burchard said...

I mean the suit of armor, not the chewing and peeing.

Bellis said...

YOU put it there? I thought it was connected to John's movie! Shock and awe and puzzlement.

Latino Heritage said...

Drumroll, please.

Trish said...

lol on the chewing and peeing vs armor.

Two sisters eh?!!! Me too!!! Where are you in the line up? I'm the baby which was a bit hard growing up, but I'm ohhhh so glad now!!!

Petrea Burchard said...

I'm in the middle, Chieftess, and it's a fine place to be. I have a brother, too, and we share that middle spot.
