Camelot Where You Are, #10

Adele of Seeing Sierra Madre: One Photo at a Time says of her entry:

"I couldn't find anything in Sierra Madre, but I did spot this little Castle-on-a-Truck in an Urban Forest not far from my home town."

No Camelot in Sierra Madre? Surely there must be, the place is loaded with charm, chivalry and decent coffee.

But we gratefully accept! Thank you, Adele, for your entry!

Enter the Camelot Where You Are photo contest by sending in a picture of your interpretation of Camelot where you are. It can be anything--a sign, a symbol, a plaything--whatever your imagination tells you.

It's easy to enter and anyone can do it.
Send in your photo, then be sure to vote over the coming weekend for your favorite of this week's entries. Each weekly winner receives a free copy of Camelot & Vine upon publication in October. Publication day, whatever day it turns out to be, will be the final day for entries.

Yeah, I love Adele's blog. I think it perfectly reflects the small-townyness of Sierra Madre, and the charm of Adele's personality.

Hee hee. That's brilliant!

Great name for a company, nice logo. Well spotted, Adele. It leads me to wonder if the owner of the company is a direct descendant of Arthur? After all, I saw a descendant of Richard III, through his sister's line, on TV yesterday. He looked very nice, and there was no hunchback or withered arm.

Now I am just feeling shame that I still haven't done this.

I like your "hee hee," Dive.

Bellis, I've been following the Richard III story with avid attention! It's thrilling. I love history, and I love tangible connection to it even more. I'd make a better archaeologist than historian.

No shame, Margaret! No obligation. You're only supposed to do it if it's fun!

Petrea, you would make a good archaeologist as I think you have the patience to "dig" for endless hours with a toothbrush. You could always volunteer to help on a summer dig in Britain - I know someone at Caltech who did this. By the way, when I first came to Pasadena an elderly neighbor introduced himself and told me - in all seriousness - that he was descended from one of the Knights of the Round Table. I was trying not to smile, so I never got round to asking him which one.

Oh, that's funny, Bellis.

Actually, at least a few of the legendary names are based in history, such as Bedevere (Bedwyr) and (if I remember correctly) Sagramore. But the history is so dark it would impossible to know who their descendants are.

For not being able to find anything, Adele sure came up with a winner! I like the forest (with palm trees in the distance).

It's fun seeing all the different Camelots! I've enjoyed all of them, and look forward to seeing more.
You have such good ideas :-)

Petrea Burchard said...

We can be pretty sure it's California, can't we, Katie?

Thank you, Ms. M! I hadn't realized how easy this would be for me--just let other people take the pictures and all I have to do is post them! I knew it would be fun but I had no idea how much fun. I'm enjoying it so much I can hardly say.

I haven't found anyrhing close to home yet but there's something here in Bella Vista, Arkansas, where I'm vacationing, that might make the grade. Would that count?

Petrea Burchard said...

It sure would, Ann. Bring it on!

Surely I can find something up here. Will snoop.

Thanks, Petrea, for posting my picture, and for your kind words. What a fine, supportive group of readers you have. And your description of Sierra Madre was so great I may have to incorporate it into my blog's description!

Eyes and imagination open, Karin.

Take it, Adele, it's yours! Thank you for your contribution to the contest.
