Commute, 12

I am soothed when traffic slows at this spot on Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles. I see this on the way to work. On the way back, I rarely notice it. You'd think I wouldn't miss it either way. Maybe it's all about what the sun is doing, or, more likely, what the traffic is doing.

I left the little corner of my car window in the photo because I like it.

I should mention that I take photos from the car only when traffic is stopped. I mean stopped.

Say, I wonder why there's no graffiti on the plain part of the wall? Someone must be taking care of the place.

I'm intrigued by the inconsistent texture, and the creamy yellow color is yummy. This could be an artpiece hanging in a gallery. Who would dare vandalize it?!

The texture is wonderful! I'm glad the local graffiti 'artists' have avoided this location, touch wood.

Looks newly painted/stuccoed.. give it time. Bet they're deciding how to incorporate that texture w/their art.

I seem to recall passing it when there was something...but I don't remember what, and lately it's looking spiffy.

There's some stuff along this route that I'd love to photograph but I never get a chance to stop. I should just park the car, but I'm always on the way somewhere.

I am soothed knowing you drive and shoot safely.

Suddenly I crave apricots.

I have a white peach on my desk that I just held up in front of that yellow wall - on the computer screen of course. It makes for an interesting 3-D still life!

I laughed at your "I mean stopped", I was out and about a couple days a go and came to a railroad crossing. The gates were down but the train was still quite a ways back...out came the book ;-)

Desiree, you're right. I shouldn't.

Did you find any, Dive? They're out of season here.

Susan, that reminds of me this: http://on.fb.me/QRXqu0

Ha! BD, you and I are bad examples to the children.

I'm trying to think where on Beverly this might be.
My guess will be that it's the new 7-11 near Normandie.

I couldn't think of the cross street! I do love Google maps. It's Hana Automotive on Beverly at Ardmore.

I like this shot. You found the beauty in something tha most of us would find mundane.

Striking photo with the yellow and the textures. Golden yellow. Like good squash. Or apricots. Perhaps a kind of cheese.

That's the cheeriest one- color brick wall I've ever seen.

I love that people are finding food in this picture.

Classic Petrea style. Sunbaked.

Petrea Burchard said...

Cliff, I didn't know there was a "classic Petrea style" and, as Shell Sherree would say, I'm chuffed.

Book Dragon said...

The style of brick is "split face". It's purely decorative but the artists to tend to leave it alone for smoother surfaces.

There were lemon cookies at the wedding reception tonight that looked like the wall.

Bad example? maybe, but I'm in good company!

Split face lemon cookies. Mmmm.

Wow, Nice wall. The bricks make a lovely texture.

Hi, JK! Thanks for visiting.
