A Pretty Penny

Yesterday morning: a walk with a friend in Bungalow Heaven, followed by iced latte and a pastry at Penny For Your Thoughts.

Do you know of another place where you can buy an antique chair for your porch, vintage dishes for your kitchen, unique hand-made frames for your walls and a one-of-a-kind dress for your very own self, then sit down (at a table with a tablecloth) and have a cup of excellent coffee accompanied by a home-made cookie from the tiny, local, Apron Strings bakery?

There's no other place like it. It's not just the great stuff, it's also Millie's artful displays. It's my favorite shop in Pasadena and I don't get there often enough.

Stop by. Ooh and aah. While you're there, I've decided I want that bottle with the starfish on it.

Sounds like you had the perfect morning, Petrea.

I did, thank you. It's getting hot here and it's nice to sit in the shop, surrounded by such pretty things.

You were in my 'hood! I'm four blocks up on Atchison. The shops and restaurants all along Washington from Hill to Allen are all wonderful in their own ways, and Penny For Your Thoughts is one of my favorites.

What a great place, Petrea. I'll have a black Americano please, and that van Gogh hat for working in the garden.

Ann, it's my ambition (one of my ambitions, anyway) to stroll up and down Washington and photograph all the unique businesses there between Lake and, say, Altadena Drive. Kind of a long walk!

Dive, it would be so much fun to sit in the shop and enjoy a cup of coffee with you. One of these days we'll do that, although I'm betting we'll be closer to York than Pasadena.

I have driven by there so many times. I promise I will stop in soon. It sounds wonderful, just the kind of place I would like to have if I had any entrepreneurial genes!

That sounds like a perfect morning. A walk, pastry, coffee, and shopping, all experienced with a friend. Everything you need!

Laura, I think you'd love the place. You probably would, too, Adele. It's eclectic, artful, smart.

This is definitely my kind of hangout! Shopping for cool stuff and a place to sit and chat with friends over a beverage and snack is a great combo. I'll be sure to stop by on my next visit to Pasadena. Fun photo too!

It's lovely. But I'm so sad I missed the Julia Morgan tour. I had it marked for Sunday at 9. Guess it wasn't meant to be.

Katie, we'll put this on the docket for your next visit.

Karin, bummer! I think there will be more opportunities. The YWCA is just your kind of adventure.

Looks like a charming shop! And I'll have an iced latte, too, please...:-)

Come join us, Ms. M! This will be the PDP coffee spot.

Ah, yes. I know that place - in my old neck of the woods. I like that straw hat!
