We Are Old!

Big, big doings today for the Pasadenish because it's our 126th birthday.

We're having our party from 12-4 pm at the Pasadena Museum of History (free admission, free parking). There will be art, music, antique cars and more. In honor of this year's Olympics, the Synchronized Cake Cutting will be held at 3pm, officiated by Mayor Bill Bogaard.

Many organizations sponsor the event. A big co-sponsor is Pasadena Water and Power (a super important entity in this part of the world), and this year the cakes (also super important) come from Vons.

Everybody gets a free piece of cake. Everybody. You are Pasadenish. Come and get your cake.

Well, happy birthday, Pasadena!

Woohoo!
Many happy returns, Pasadena! I'm so excited I almost used 'party' as a verb.
I can't believe you're a little over twice as old as me. You look a lot better than I do.
Enjoy your party and try not to drink too much. Water's a precious commodity (except over here where it rains all the time).

Happy Birthday! Synchronized Cake Cutting????

I'll just speak for everyone here and say thank you, Rath!

Gosh, Dive, even I don't use "party" as a verb. You must be thrilled.

Dina, we'd love to have you.

I agree, KBF--one of the reasons why I like it so much.

Jean, you've given away our secret.

Bayside, I will have to see it to grok it.

Thanks for letting us know. Since Ann Erdman, Pasadena's Public Information Officer, retired, and since I started reading the local paper online only, I'm unaware of many interesting things happening in our fair city. How did you find out?

Petrea Burchard said...

I'm on the museum mailing list, Bellis. Plus I read Hometown Pasadena for events. I think they do a better job of it than the paper, though the paper does a better job on the news.

Happy Birthday to Pasadena, and all those who are Pasadenish!

Thanks, Adele. We are also sometimes known as Pasadenamanians. There are also the Pasadanish, aka Altadenamanians, and the South Pasadenish.

The building in your photo is magnificent!

I'm about to go have my cake.

Ms. M, that's the Fenyes Mansion, part of the Pasadena Museum of History.

I missed cake? The horror.

Petrea Burchard said...

I'll have a picture for you tomorrow of what you missed.

Bellis said...

I missed you there, I missed the cake, but I found out a lot about Pasadena's water system. I could have stayed for hours.

Petrea Burchard said...

I would have enjoyed that. There's so much to know.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I had never heard about PASADENA before I started at the CDP blogging community.

But it is A VERY PRETTY PLACE on the planet!
Thanks for showing us.

Why thank you, Gunn. I admit I hadn't heard of Stavanger, either. I hadn't heard of a lot of places I've enjoyed through the wonderful CDP.
