In a Cabin in the Canyon

What would I do in my remote canyon retreat? If I had one to retreat to, that is?

Not much. Not much at all.

What would you do in yours?

*******************

An informational meeting will be held tonight about the sports field, new trail and disk golf course at Hahamongna Watershed Park.

I've just read a fascinating report by Hugh Bowles questioning the legitimacy of Pasadena's application for grant money for this field. I've attended a lot of meetings about Hahamongna and I, too, question the legitimacy of the city's application. It appears obvious that the application does not fulfill state requirements and that the state's granting of the money violates its own rules for doing so.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at Pasadena City Yards, 233 W. Mountain Ave., Pasadena, 2nd floor Large Conference Room. There's plenty of parking, so come on down!

No truth to the rumor that Cliff deleted his first try at that comment because he misspelled it …

Ha!
Those deleted comments come through my inbox, but I'm not telling.

Cliff got there before me. I guess I'll just have to play darts.

PS Hugh's report is shocking.

Petrea Burchard said...

Yes, it is shocking, Bellis. I'm a bit surprised the city staff thought they could get away with it. But they almost did!

The message on the shutters is clear. Catch some Zs and then play a game of darts. (I've never played darts--I know, it's sad.)

I'm from Norfolk so I suppose I'd have to play banjo and hunt city boys with purrty mouths.

Best I steer clear of remote canyon retreats.

Petrea Burchard said...

I played darts once, Bayside. I don't feel the need to play again.

Dive, you might have to explain the Norfolk reference to us Amurrikins.

Lordy! My backyard looks like this all the time, but not so bucolic.

Glad to see Hugh is still involved. He did a great job as a parent at Muir.

Petrea Burchard said...

I agree about Hugh, Laura. I haven't met him but I've heard him speak. I don't know if the report would have such impact had it come from anyone else.

I'd sit on my back deck with a glass of wine, a little Eva Cassidy on the stereo, and good book...with Kelly and TheChief of course!!! Ohhh!!! That's what we do!!!

Petrea Burchard said...

Ha, Jane, I would too, if I were still 49-er.

Chieftess: the life!

Fun photo! Is this where the "over-the-shoulder" dart team practices? I just spent time at a lake house in Montana with friends where we hung out on the dock for hours eating, drinking and talking. Then got up and did more of the same, punctuated by a jump in the 55 degree lake. I wish I could spend the whole summer doing that.

Petrea Burchard said...

Katie, with the exception of 55 degree water, that sounds heavenly. All you were missing was a dart board.

Petrea Burchard said...

I'm not. I've got Hugh Bowles' report and I'm sending it to city and state officials.
