Commute, 4

I don't know what my commute looks like to you. I suppose it depends on whether or not you're used to city life. I love driving along Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles between Silverlake and Hollywood. It's colorful and busy. People are always out.

Beverly is not exemplary of the entire commute. I have freeway driving (no photos until I get a chauffeur) and some hills. I drive alongside the Silverlake reservoir. I pass beautiful old architecture, pretty parks and graffiti-covered bridges.

Traffic doesn't always stop at those places so I might never get a picture of them, at least not while commuting. And if traffic moves like it did yesterday, I won't be getting a lot of photos of Beverly Blvd. either.

Ever since I started getting my hair done in West Hollywood, I take the 170 and get off at Highland and make my way to Crescent Heights... sometimes, I have to get off at Melrose, cuz u know how Highland can be.. I LOVE the architecture and yes, the colors... Even tho I may not recognize some of the places u have snapped, I definitely know the 'feel' of those buildings...Best of all are the people I see on the streets in these areas... U know I live in a bedroom community- that was the background for Weeds... yep... that one... so I go from a 'cookie cutter world' to a more colorful one over the hill...:-)

It's fun, isn't it, KBF? The variety of such a sprawling city. We're lucky here that we're only a short drive from mountains, desert and beach as well. I used to work at Crescent Heights and Sunset. I know West Hollywood well--though it changes, always.

the other side of the LA River

That it is, PA. I cross the river right about when I get off the freeway.

That's a nifty street scene.

So there's a down size to less traffic? Not able to take pics???

Love the illogical street numbers. Myself, I'd have renumbered them to fit in that half.

Having lived in the drab Midwest for the first half of my life, I really enjoy all the colors that are here, even on the storefronts.

I'm not a drive-by shooter, Chieftess. I'm only a stuck-at-the-light shooter.

Yes, the colors! I'm from the Midwest, too, K. Although let's admit, some of the fashionable suburbs around here are quite beige.

Such a colorful scene, it almost seems to "hum". Love your stuck-at-lights shots :-)

Colors, you bet. K mentioned it--colors everywhere--is one of the things that makes me love Los Angeles. And all that sun doesn't hurt.

Hi Petrea, I remember you inviting me for a blogger's meet, sorry didn't make it. You know there's this thing called work. :D

This must be a fun place to cruise around...yes the colors are real attractive.
