Commute, 2

We didn't get to do our Commute post yesterday so, just like my work sometimes gets rescheduled, I rescheduled the post. I'm the boss and I can do that. At least, here on the blog I can do that.

But this is what's weird: I can see the number 2773 above the door on the blue building. I cannot find this address anywhere on my commute. I can't remember where I took this picture. I thought it was on Beverly Boulevard but not this week it wasn't, and I can't find it on Google Maps. I must have taken a detour, not only of car, but of brain.

Where did I go? Do you have any ideas? How did I get to work?

It hardly matters. I got the picture, and I'm going to do our front yard flamingos in these colors.

I wish I could read the sign through the tree. Where's Superman when you need him? Your flamingos will look fabulous, Petrea. Such extroverts, flamingos.

oops by bad, thought i had it!. reminds me of Melrose area....

With those colors, you are all set for a boy and girl flamingo. Have to wonder if there is a single owner of the apparent two businesses? Or is it one owner with two renters? It looks like there may be a third off to the right that is also pink? Questions abound.

Hee hee, Shell, yes, they are extroverts. The blue building looks rather introverted though, doesn't it? It's a mystery.

You know, Kalei, it could have been Melrose. At times there's only one lane, but if Beverly or Santa Monica is backed up, Melrose is a decent alternative. Although the fact that I can't remember makes me concerned that I shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Perhaps our boy and girl flamingos had a daughter, Roberta?

Hmmm...My traditional mind is having a hard time with the blue flamingo...

But I'm loving this building!!!

I've been told to avoid melrose on a rainy day...the street flooding is not a pretty sight.

You were abducted by aliens on the way to work and taken to a parallel universe with blue flamingos and pink Bluejays. Nothing else can explain the desire to paint a flamingo blue!

Petrea Burchard said...

Chieftess, we shall have yellow flamingos and purple flamingos and lime green flamingos, just for the fun of it.

Thanks for the tip, Kalei, I hadn't thought of it but you're mostly likely correct.

That's got it, Deb! Surely that's the explanation.

Looking forward to the adventure!!!

I think they're sort of sexist.

Blue flamingo...well, if they are pink because they eat shrimp, maybe the blue is due a blueberry binge?

It's refreshing to see colorful storefronts. Too many buildings are "tastefully beige" in Boise.

Great cotton candy colors. Isn't this just off Wilshire Blvd?

Petrea Burchard said...

Margaret, are they still making the pink/blue distinction in baby stores? If so, then I agree with you.

Roberta, you remind me of George Carlin's "blue food" routine. I believe he said there is no blue food, and that blueberries aren't blue, they're purple.

Ms. M, we have our beige, don't let me fool you. In the high end neighborhoods, one must be beige. It's in the up and coming areas where people dare and have fun.

I don't know, Katie, your guess is as good as mine. I don't think I've been close to Wilshire in a while, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

"realm of possibility." Who said that first? I like that.

Katie said...

I was sort of kidding about Wilshire, but I'm happy to be within the realm of possibility. I took a long bus ride once from Santa Monica to LACMA along Wilshire and it seems like I saw most of LA in that ride!

Petra, This pic is much closer to Pasadena than you were thinking. It is along the western edge of eagle rock, on broadway boulevard, just east of Ernie's Jr.

I believe the pink building is about 2770 West Broadway, 90041

The white sign partially hidden behind the tree says Optimum Health Chiropractic

GoogleMaps has good images.

"A detour of brain"--I love that.

I remember when you took that bus ride, Katie.

Rebecca, that's got it! Thank you, you don't know how it's been plaguing me. I obviously got off the freeway, probably just before I saw it, to avoid some traffic. Oh yay! Now I can go back.

Oh good, Dina, maybe I'll use it again somewhere where you least suspect it.
