He might be texting, yeah. I hope he stopped when he got to the light. He wasn't speeding...
JB, we recently read that rush hour has gotten worse in our years here and you're statistically correct, it's pretty much all the time now. It used to be there was a morning rush and an evening rush, but now it's nonstop. We avoid the worst of it in Pasadena, but it comes through here to get to LA.
Book Dragon, in a way I feel like we all bypass it, once we're off the ramp and in town. Whew.
He's using the new Stonr app, which combines GPS, WiFi and data from the cement industry to map potential hazards for skateboarders. Only 99¢ at the App Store!
Whoa! Speaking of Stonr, Blogger just served me up the iPhone interface on my Desktop. That was a weird few seconds. I've come to believe they've got kittens and gerbils doing the programming over there.
I'm not sure why, but this picture made me more homesick than any others you've posted of late. Maybe because just a few months ago, that was me - sub the skateboard for a bike - as I made my way to class.
I'm so glad I don't have that daily commute to and from the eastern cities, where housing's more affordable. Only a few years ago, the 210 was free of bad snarl-ups at all hours, now it's a mess apart from a few hours at midday. Will the new Metro extension to Monrovia and then hopefully beyond help? Not sure - it may take as long in the train as sitting in traffic. But at least you can read in the train, and text, and check your email, and enjoy looking at the traffic jams, while saving a fortune on gas.
Oh Ben, it's always so nice to see you. I hope you're doing well. I should get over to Fuller and wander with my camera for your sake.
Bellis, I rarely have trouble between Glendale and Pasadena. What is that, 3 miles? Small, but it's something. I hope the Metro helps but it'll be a long time before we know.
We don't have much of a rush hour here, but people complain anyway. If we did, I'd have to sit in the traffic--I'm not coordinated enough for a skate board. Though I must say he looks pretty relaxed.
Kids are getting a little too relaxed around here lately, Bayside. I see them boarding down El Molino Avenue all the time, in the street. El Molino is not a major road here but it's not a minor one, either. Sometimes, folks trust their fellow travelers a little too much.
Thank you, Julie. Julie's referring to the upcoming City Daily Photo Theme Day on April 1st. Our regular CDP site was hacked and may not be up by the first. For further information, you can go here: http://cdpbthemeday.blogspot.com.au/

unless you've experienced it, I don't think you could grasp just how lucky the skateboarder is that he can bypass rush hour
It was rush hour all the time when we were there...
Also, is he texting or scrolling through his phone....Yep, its getting to be the norm isn't it.
Smart man.

looks like it might be the El Molino Street bridge you're on.
You got it, Cafe, that's El Molino, looking east toward Lake. You can see the clock tower on the Lake Street overpass if you look closely.

Sigh, thanks for the continuing memories :)

Thanks for that, Petrea. Good thinking! Now for me to work out how to describe that in some way ... I'm onto it!
Thank you, Julie.

Meaning, we'll have the theme day but it might be at this link and not the regular one.
But let's not forget to notice how blue that sky is. I hope he noticed.
I hope so, too.
I love this photo. It reminds me of the simplicity of life which is so often forgotten in this busy life of ours. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks, Wyn, I'm glad you like it!
