Stinky in a Good Way

If you follow the Saga of Boz (and why wouldn't you?) you know he had eye surgery about two and a half weeks ago. He had to wear a (shameful) cone for two whole weeks, during which time there were no none zero zip trips to Hahamongna Watershed Park (for his sake we call it JPL because it has fewer syllables, though I doubt he'd find the real JPL nearly as interesting).

First we inspected the Devil's Gate Dam. The County has dug out a good deal of silt in what might end up as an ongoing project. If you enlarge the picture you can see, left of center, a bunch of ducks ("bunch" being the scientific term), swimming as far away from Boz as they can get, even though all he ever says to them is "murph."

We usually walk all the way from one end of Hahamongna to the other, or at least from the dam to Johnson Field and back, but it was our first trip out in a while and the Pooper was easily pooped. You would be, too, if you had to stop and smell every damn thing in the whole watershed.

********

Now, this is totally off the subject but if you like cowboy music, the Coffee Gallery and Rocky the Flying Squirrel, I hope you'll read my latest article on Patch.

There must be something very Zen-like about walking a dog and pausing for all of the sniffing activities. How happy Boz must be, back in his element!

I love those ducks. I feel like I can read your dog's mind....."I want those ducks!" Great photo!

Are they trucking the silt out of there? What kind of effects is it having in terms of truck traffic on city streets?

Boz must be so excited to get back to his usual cone-less routine. Very much enjoyed your Patch piece; sounds like a fabulous group of musicians. I'm having fun going through their videos, but I'd much rather see them live!

It was good to be out there again, Shell. J and I realized we need to get out there even when Boz can't go.

Tracy, I don't think Boz would know what to do with a duck. He's not very aggressive. Might want to play with it.

And Cathy, you are such a dog lover! (I know one when I see one, kindred spirit.)

Kalei, surely he was keeping us all safe from ground squirrels and coyote pee.

Mister Earl, that stage of the project might not begin for a year or more while the EIR continues. The first stage dumped the silt into Johnson field.

Thank you, Katie. Of the videos I especially loved "The Outlaws Are Comin'"--adorable.

I've never walked down to the water line in front of the dam. Don't you have to scale that wood palate thing to do so?

Boy howdy, how on earth did Boz manage to resist such an awesome mudbath? Even at my age I'd love to just leap in there and splash around.

That awesome mudbath would have been very smelly - I hope Boz did resist it. Abby and I visited "JPL" for the first time since the windstorm this Sunday, and she was delirious with happiness at checking out all her smelling spots. Did you see some steps have been put in from the lower east trail down to the dam area, avoiding the wooden duckboards? I had to try them out, of course, against Abby's advice, and realized near the bottom that they weren't finished yet, so had to slip down the last bit of hillside.

Chieftess, I try to think of it as the equivalent of a visit to Paris or Rome.

Not at all, PA. Just walk down the eastern path to where it widens and take a very sharp left. The path doubles back and leads you there.

Dive, although Boz likes mud he is very well-behaved and he knows who hands out the treats.

Yes, the steps have been there for a few weeks. I haven't used them. They don't seem to be quite the right scale, and definitely not for Boz. They go up to a nice, new spillage drain.

Glad to see Mr. Boz out and about again, looking regal as he gazes over the mudbath.

Also, enjoyed your Patch story. Sounds like a great time with wonderfully talented folks!

Sweet Boz. Glad you had fun and that Boz is better.

Thanks, Ms. M, I appreciate it!

Margaret, we went out to Hahamongna again today and Boz wanted to keep on going this time.

I can hear it now "I could TOTALLY get those ducks out of MY pool, if Mom would *let* me get all muddy. Totally. Totally!".

Showing great restraint there buddy!

Mr. Teddy Butt (the trailblazer) is a very sophisticated and restrained sort of pooch.

I'm glad you mentioned enlarging the photo to see the ducks. It put a different perspective on Boz staring out over the stink. Great that he's feeling better, even if he is easily pooped these days.

Good that Boz is OK now.
