Look Up

The Christmas tree in the foyer of Pasadena City Hall is a big one. We're looking up up up toward the ceiling. City Hall has an open plan; anyone can visit the tree any time. If you do, be sure to visit the inner courtyard, too. It's a nice place to sit and enjoy the fountain while you eat a sandwich or read your book or give someone a present.

Wow this is a great photo. Makes me a little dizzy looking up at that ceiling, but worth it. Hope Boz got some sleep (and you too). Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

All kinds of loveliness. Big hugs to you and Boz. I hope he is recuperating nicely. Thank you for being you, dear Petrea.

Katie and Shell beat me to it, Petrea. Have a wonderful holiday and a fabulous 2012 and a speedy recovery for poor Boz.

THAT is what I love about Pasadena, Santa Barbara and any city that preserves the old architecture...history, warmth and charm... I am such a sucker for architecture- have always been drawn to it.. Show me gargoyles in France and you've made my day..

What nice messages today! Thank you!

Speaking of lacunae, Boz has been asleep since yesterday afternoon except for one brief trip outdoors very early this morning. I trust him, he knows what he needs.

Thank you all for your wonderful messages.

If Boz is resting, then he must be comfortable. Give him a kiss from his girlfriend.

@Petrea: poor guy must of been pretty anxious... can't say I blame him... its scary for these fur babies to go to the vet...my cat becomes one w/the exam table.... huge saucer eyes is a dead give a way

Petrea Burchard said...

I will, Karin. He already asked for you.

Kalei, he's one of those dogs that hates the vet, no matter how nice they are to him. He smells fear when we walk in there and about 5% of the time he's right.

Pretty pretty!
But driving around City Hall is still a disaster! What the heck are they doing?
btw, is this a photo from your calendar?

Petrea Burchard said...

I'm not sure what they're doing, but some people have jobs so I won't complain. What a way to think: "Go ahead and rip up the streets, as long as people get paid!" Oh, this recession is getting to me.

It would be nice if that work were done before the Tournament of Roses festivities.

BTW, when I looked up "look up," they showed a picture of a crane.

Here's what I got.

Google has us pegged.

Sounds like I will know what to do and where to eat if in Pasadena!

As ever you manage to capture an unusual and interesting angle on things. Love the ceiling (and the tree). Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Boz a happy and healthy New Year.

Once City Hall is accessible again - when the seemingly 10-year project to pave the road and sidewalks at the front has been completed - I'll revisit and stop awhile to appreciate the beauty of the inner courtyard. Merry Xmas to you and John and especially to Boz. He'll feel so much better once his eye heals.

Merry Christmas Eve!

I relayed all your generous messages of warmth and healing to Boz. He said, "Take this cone off pleeeeeze."

So, I think that means "thanks."

He's family, Irina. Definitely a loved one near and dear. And yes, you will know where to go in Pasadena because I'll show you around!

The street project is taking a while but not nearly as long as, say, South Pasadena's Fair Oaks Fiasco. It doesn't block main roads and you can drive easily along all sides of City Hall except the west, so I don't find it to be a big deal. I wish they'd finish this week, though, because it mars that lovely vista.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I can sense that Boz loves his pack and he knows he is safe and content. Often times dogs make more sense than people.
Glad to see a "Christmas Tree." I've seen too many references lately than call them "Holiday trees."
Merry Christmas to all three of you.

Beautiful beautiful vaulted ceiling. So are the conch shaped drinking fountains.

Merry Christmas

Hope Boz is doing well.

Love your photo; the detailed work on the ceiling is amazing!
Happiest of holidays to you, John, and Boz!

Boz is safe, Steven, and he trusts us. At the moment, though, he's making it clear he's not content. He's a good communicator.

PA, I haven't gotten a good photo of those drinking fountains. I love them. They're so special.

Merry Christmas to you, too, Ms. M,

and to all!
