Zen Monday: #170

Zen Monday's the day you experience the photo and give us your thoughts rather than me telling you what I think the photo's about. There's no competition, no right or wrong. Just have fun.

I look for a photo worth contemplating or, failing that, something odd or silly. Or all of those things, if I'm lucky.

And, plus, in addition, also: I have a new piece on Patch today.

I wonder if they have a vicious guard dog too.

Just try breaking in. Cause if Brinks doesn't get you, Jesus surely will, lol.

And for anyone who does get in, there's a flaming cross in the living room. Heaven help you!

Jesus saves, Brinks protects!

wv: stago....I'm just not going to go there today...

Finally we know what Jesus and Mary's last name was: Brinks. I always wondered...

I can't match any of these hilarious comments, Petrea, so I'll just say YAY for hearing you on your 91.8TheFan interview. Brilliant!

If Jesus came to their door, would they let Him in?

Katie bar the door! I take it that this photo was not taken in the Garden of Eden? Maybe Garden Grove?

Steven broke me up.

Definitely a trinity of protection. And with the glimpse through the window of the large glowing cross on the wall, it leads me to wonder what the rest of the inside decor is like.

Push me, pull you.

Katie said...

To misquote The Gipper "Faith, but verify." Steven I think they've got this door covered.

Good eye, Ms. M, I never even saw that glowing cross through the window.

This one really makes me wonder if these people were always this way--this scared--or if they suffered some sort of trauma that sent them behind their barriers.

I'd like to know because I didn't take this picture in Garden Grove. I took it about five blocks from my house in Pasadena.

Katie, how do you feel about constantly being asked to bar the door? I googled the expression but didn't get very far. If the internet is right nobody knows exactly where the phrase came from, even if they do know what it means.

That house certainly has all of its bases covered. I'm most interested in what the sign on the door says.

By the way Petrea, I loved your interview on 91.8! It was great to hear what Tenchi was like on your end.

Thanks, Julie. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to do.

Tash, I think you got that right. And WCGB, I'm afraid you did but I hope you didn't.

depends on WHERE in Pasadena, the bars could be quite useful. If near King's Row, I'd put bars on windows, doors and over the bars on the windows and doors! Even my grandmother panicked and had bars installed on her doors (she was not even close to King's Row)---which, when she fell & called 911, the fire dept had to break a window to get in to save her.

I'd guess the "photo" is to drive off the evil spirits, and scare off anyone on meth from coming to the door.

Seems like it has worked?

wv: dogpooie no, I'm not kidding. lol! gotta go walk a dog now...

Petrea Burchard said...

Hmm. What's the king's row you're referring to, Trish? The only King's Row I know of is a rather nice pub on Colorado near Fair Oaks.

Trish said...

King's Row--approx Washington & N Fair Oaks. "The Projects" and a drug king row. I made the mistake of trying to do a delivery there once when I was ~18, at night. Yeah, I'm lucky to be alive--am assuming they just thought I was insane for being there, let alone at night.

Obviously, not to be confused with Millionaire's Row.

wv: fraticar---what happens when you let your son at college borrow your car for the weekend to go to the big game!

Not such a bad spot now, Trish, though still not the best.
