Apropos

This picture is apropos of nothing, a shot I took on Pasadena's east side maybe two years ago on a blustery day a lot like yesterday. At the time, this was at the back of a furniture store. It may still be at the back of a furniture store, but a lot can change in two years. It's just off of Rosemead Blvd., about a half mile south of the 210 freeway.

All you have to do to find good photographic subjects is get out of the car and walk. Anywhere. Try it.

Here's an exclusive offer for readers of Pasadena Daily Photo: you may remember that on October 28th I announced Ibarionex Perello's Digital Camera Bootcamp. Pro photographer and teacher at the revered (and expensive) Art Center College of Design, Ibarionex is someone I not only admire and recommend, but also someone I really like. For the November 19th workshop only, PDP readers can take his workshop for $50 by entering the Promo Code "perellovip" when checking out. I don't do a lot of advertising here but jeez, that's a super discount and it's just for us.

Fabulous photo! Faded signage, brick and pretty clouds -- what's not to love. Bummer I'm too far to take Ibarionex's bootcamp, but that's a great deal for locals.

It is a great photo. but it made me a little dizzy. It seems like your neck would be sore after a shot like that. Ah, the sacrifices you make for your art.

That's a great offer! I think a friend of mine went to the course he teaches at Art Center and learnt so much. I'm just using my iPhone now, too lazy to carry a camera as well.

I wonder if all businesses on Rosemead look like this now, after the long road closures to improve the highway (and they're still not finished!!)?

That's a great photo, Petrea; kind of romantic in a trashed Americana way.
I was going to ask how the Ladies of Tenchi Muyo event went but I just remembered that when it's bedtime over here it's still morning where you are and so it's not started yet.
Have a great time!

What a great offer! I'd love to take his class but I'll have to wait until I'm better at wrangling the two pitties. On my walks these days I have a leash in each hand, and adding a camera to the mix would be too precarious.

I love the blues of the sky and the dumpster and the grid patterns zooming off at an angle.

Thanks, all. I just got home from Pacific Media Expo and I'm exhausted! It was so much fun my face hurts from smiling. Everyone was nice. Everyone. I'll tell you all about it later but right now I need a nap.

I agree with the others -- excellent photo! That's a good deal for Ibarionex's workshop. (Unfortunately for me, the commute's a bit far.) But I hope the locals sign up. Sounds like a great opportunity!

Great photo, and I'm glad you had fun at PMX! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Are you sure, Ms. M? It's worth a trip...Okay, okay, but it's warmer here right now than it is in Boise.

Julie, I had so much fun and I am so worn out! I took a lot of pictures so I hope some of them turned out well enough to put them up here and on my website. It was just a blast.

I hope you're going to give us photos and a full report on the Petrea fan day. Most curious.

Haven't uploaded them yet but fingers are crossed.
