2012 Pasadena Daily Photo Calendar

I've been looking back through old posts and picking out photos to put up on RedBubble. RedBubble's one of those sites where you post your artwork (doesn't have to be photography) and people can buy it in the form of cards, posters, etc. You can click on my little ad in the sidebar.

So I put up some stuff and some of it sold. I was the buyer so it was no surprise. But then shocker! Someone else bought cards! My siblings are not owning up, nor are my in-laws. RB does a nice job of printing. I'm happy with them.

Over the weekend I made a 2012 PDP calendar (this picture isn't on it--just, you know, caveat emptor). I also added a couple of photos with a Christmas or winter feel if anybody wants to order Pasadena-oriented holiday cards. One card has the Colorado Street Bridge on it, one has City Hall and one was taken at the Huntington Gardens. I was thinking of doing a calendar of the Last Day Project with the photos of Johnson Field from September, 2009 to August, 2010. They'd be arranged so as to stick with the January-December calendar structure we use here on the planet. If you're interested, let me know and I'll put that together. Also let me know if you don't see the photo you want and I'll put it up there so you can buy cards or whatever.

I'm doing my Tom Bodett here, my soft-sell. I don't expect to get rich this way. But, you know, a few people asked. Do I sound lackadaisical enough?

The sell is as soft as a feather-and-down cushion, Petrea. You are so amazingly generous with your daily photos and witty-wise words, I would love for you to be fiscally enriched in any way possible. Your calendar is beautiful!

I'm happy you are branching out, Petrea.

Woah, too many riches at 8 am, my brain's exploding. Want, want, want. I've been piling up a lot of goodies in the Checkout already, but thanks for the offer of putting up other photos that we like, I might take you up on that.

As for the "Last Day" Johnson Field calendar, I'd love to present a copy to every Pasadena City Councilman and woman, to the Parks and Rec department, and to the Arroyo Seco Foundation. (Just wish I could afford it.)

Oh P, I'm thrilled you've done this. I like Red Bubble too and no, I'm not going to Paris on my earnings, but it bought be a tank or two of gas to get to the Piggly Wiggly. And did you know that your devoted fans can choose when they want their calendar to begin? you know the ones that want an Aug-Aug. We know who they are. :)

Thanks, everyone.

Bellis, you make a good point. If I sell enough calendars maybe I can afford one for myself! The markup on most of these websites is similar. RedBubble's no different except it's easier to use than the others I've tried.

I've had two requests for the Johnson Field calendar so I'll go ahead and put it up this week. Even if people only look through it it'll be worth it, an easier way to look at those photos one after the other.

Virginia, I didn't know that. I should sign out and go see what the user experience really is!

You bot your own stuff? Is that what you wrote?

You can add calendar maker to your resume. Good luck with the calendar, PB.

Yes, I bought cards, Cafe. They give me a (slight) discount but I have to pay for the printing. Thanks for your good wishes.

Ooooh! I've bookmarked that page for when anybody asks me what I want for Christmas, Petrea. A Pasadena calendar filled with your yummy photos will be the perfect antidote to the English weather next year.

Yay! Congratulations on the sales!

This will make a great gift, plus I'm sure the long, leggy supermodel Boz gets a cut.

Petrea Burchard said...

Thank you, Desiree.

Karin, I was thinking of doing a Boz calendar but there are only two buyers and the other one has already squandered his allowance on pre-chewed gum and unidentified bits.

Anonymous said...

Oh, yes, well. Identified bits, they won't break you, not if you bide your time and study the Rite-Aid adverts. But Unidentifiable bits, that's a seller's market, isn't it? They can ask what they want and someone is bound to pay it.

Someone who's not terribly wise with his wallet. I mean, he doesn't even have pockets.

Bellis said...

Poor John! Don't you feed him enough? Why is he eating prechewed gum?

Petrea Burchard said...

Ha!
Bellis, he can afford new gum. I'm trying to make him do the cooking.

This is great! I want to buy a couple of things (Wood & Amber Waves). I would love to see more of your work there!

That particular wire mesh is a devil to roll out. Just sayin as they say

Thank you, J.J. That's very encouraging.

PA, this is up at Chilao flats visitor center. Which was closed. Pretty up there, though.
