I know where this is! There's one of those brown California historic site signs directing drivers to it on the 210 freeway. It's the last remaining payphone in Southern California.
Wow! We're still waiting for those new-fangled things to be installed in our village. The little old lady at the Post Office who runs the telegraph machine is retiring soon and they've promised us a speaking tube.
Me, I'm not so sure it's a good thing.

Around here the only people who use public phones anymore are usually drug dealers or philandering husbands, but I don't think this phone is "public" because of the 5900 on the front and no coin slot.
You saw it, Speedway--something I didn't see at first. No place to put your money. It looks like a pay phone but it's not. Maybe it never was. Hard to say.
Bellis, it deserves a historical marker! I didn't see one. This is located in the part of what was the Ambassador Campus that will soon be condominiums, off of Del Mar near Orange Grove.

Tonight the council approved funding for an Environmental Impact Report for the euphemistically-named Multi-Benefit and Multi-Use plans, which include altered trails, a parking lot and a soccer field in Hahamongna.
Good for you! I've got a Haha post up for tomorrow and it took forever to write. That's never a good sign.
And the phone -- well, I think Apple just may surprise everyone and go retro.
I know the silt at Hahamongna has to be removed. I don't know enough about how it's to be done to have a real comment on the silt removal plan. But I do understand that, as much as we may dislike the disruption, disruption there will be. I appreciate, however, that we want it to be as undisruptive as possible. I'm sure that comment would not be helpful to the county officials so I'm staying out of their meetings and talking about the things I've researched.
