Your Weekend Calendar

How will you do it all this weekend?

It's

the culmination of the AxS (Arts and Science) Festival, running through October 16th (most events are free, some suggest reservations);

13th annual Latino Heritage Parade and Jamaica Saturday the 15th (free);

the 20th annual Craftsman Weekend put on by Pasadena Heritage, 14th-16th (not free but a Pasadena classic);

and

Pasadena's Arts Weekend, all weekend, all free.

I'm so torn I may have to leave town. I wish they'd check with each other (or with me!), but perhaps they're all vying for the most beautiful weekend with the best weather. In that case, everyone wins.

Oh, that's an easy one -- Latino Heritage Parade.

Have you been to it before?

Sounds like a great weekend, whatever you choose to do, Petrea.
I love the photo today. Words like "spiffy" and "boffo" spring to mind, which kind of puts a dent in my alleged erudition.
Say, are those cannabis plants?

I don't think it's cannabis, Dive. I took this photo on the grounds of the Ambassador Campus, which might point to students planting weed, but this was once the Hulett C. Merritt estate and is well cared for by, er, erudite gardeners.

No, I haven't. But it's sure to be full of life and color and dancing and old California history. Plus, I know Spanish from my grammar school days. I can ask Roberto what he bought at the market, and I can ask Maria to direct me to the nearest library. Should come in handy.

Lucky we can go to several different things.

To answer your question, Petrea, we choose our event day based on PD availability. If there is a UCLA game we have to look for another date.

K - Si, pero Luisa tiene catarro.

I've been to busy & lazy to attend much of any of these. However, PB, I am hoping you attend the Prospect Pk tour this weeN so you can get some decent fotos this time around - now that you know how to use a camera!!

If you can, choose one, then rotate year to year. Having tried, and failed, to "do everything," I found I enjoyed very little of it at all; I was too caught up in the schedule and logistics to sit back and just enjoy.

Ah, the schedule and the logistics, too true. When there's so much going on I just give up and go for a hike. I'm out of town this weekend, and very sad to miss the Craftsman weekend, because I love the craftsmen that come from all over the US to sell their beautifully made goods.

Forgot to say, I thought at first your photo was a stained glass window. It's unbelievably beautiful.

Now, see, if I hadn't have been transplanted to the midwest, I would have known Louisa had chest problems.

After pow-wow princess play.

Sounds like a lot of great choices! We'll be looking forward to photos of whatever you decide to attend. :-)

LOVE your photo! It's elegant and beautiful!

Probably the Latino Heritage Parade. I've never been and would love to see it for the same reasons the Hiker mentions, although my Spanish isn't nearly as good as hers.

I like the photo, too! Thank you!

So many great options! I'll try to go to the Latino Heritage Parade too. Sounds fun - and a good opportunity to parade Louise around.

Petrea Burchard said...

Good idea, Susan. And if Louise doesn't score at the parade you can take her to Art Walk.

Gorgeous!

Thank you, Des.
