Envy Adjacent

Lately, Pasadena Adjacent has been posting some nice looking lawn furniture on her traditional and highly popular Trash Tuesday posts. Mmm, like like like like like.

These chairs at San Marino Pool and Patio are new--not free, not yet even on sale. For the likes of me there's a bonus in that they're perfect as they are, requiring no sanding or paint.

Does that take the fun out of it?

These chairs are awesome! Do you get a free matching bean bag with purchase?

They sure are colorful.

Sanding and painting are not my idea of a fun afternoon. But, how I LOVE these chairs. Such an old-fashioned feeling about them.

I don't think the bean bag chairs are free either, Katie. But they also don't require sanding.

Steffe, I drove by day after day and kept meaning to stop. I was lucky they were still there yesterday.

I feel the same way, Kate. Very retro, aren't they? I think my neighbors had something like them when I was a kid--but the colors weren't this bright and varied.

I've been trying to find an excuse to buy those chairs since I first saw them. I wonder if there's a table to go with them. Pasadena Adjacent's a patient and caring furniture restorer, but nowadays, I'm an "I want it, and I want it now" kind of person.

Like the way you got the level crossing gates for the metro trains in the photo. They're the bane of my life as the traffic signals for blocks around seem to be set on red forever.

Well...to continue with a theme, they are different, yet alike, and like their more ornate associates at the back, all chairs.

My grandma had green ones which tended to tip over backwards with us little ones.

WV: difiery = All the chairs in the picture were formed in difiery metal pool.

The crossing gates were just going up, Bellis. Most of the time I was there they were down and trains were going by. This was a more interesting angle, I thought.

No matching table in sight.

Must have been fun, Speedway: chair-tipping.

Those chairs have the PA stamp all over them, minus the cheap aesthetic. Call me boring, but I'm more attracted to the white and green chairs in the background.

what . . . no aqua? Lucy must have skipped Pasadena

btw: San Marino Pool and Patio is the place to go for your lawn chair cushions. They have books of fabric choices to select from. They also sell that plastic strap for furniture with the basket weave.

This photo is like one of those drawings in Highlights magazine where you have to find all the hidden items. (Don't tell the Pie Night folk, but the real reason I visit Altadena is because they have a subscription.)

Can you find:
a patio fireplace;
a swingset;
a pool and patio mascot;
a compressed gas warning sign;
a no-smoking sign;
"00 East";
railroad barricades;
a railroad crossing sign;
a pigeon;
a traffic camera;
a palm frond about to fall.

Susan, I'll probably need something with a cushion on it.

Truly, PA, not nearly enough color variety here...
You're right--you can order ANYTHING from this place. If they don't have it in stock they will get it for you.

Cliff, Pie Night is coming up! They didn't list the time on the invitation. I'm showing up at 4:30.

Cliff,
I love your competition. Can't resist hunting for all the items. But where's Wally?

Margaret said...

No one would me to sand or paint anything. It would end up a disaster, but I sure am impressed by PAs skills.

Petrea Burchard said...

Wally walked by, Bellis, but he had already crossed the tracks at this point. Did you realize he has tattoos and piercings?

Margaret, PA is a skilled and talented artist. We can't all be that. I buy my furniture already done rather than paint it myself in order to avoid embarrassment.

I love the red and blue chairs! July 4th is a HUGE deal around here (my mom's birthday) and those would be awesome around the pool

I call dibs on the leopard bean bag chair.

Fun, colorful chairs, and a "treasure hunt" to boot (thanks to Cliff).
The chairs look very similar to lawn chairs we had when I was a little kid. Same design. But ours were metal, heavy, in green and red. I recall I was given the job of repainting them when I was a teen.

Petrea Burchard said...

J.J., surely this is what you're referring to

Julie, it's yours if you hurry on over. If it's not there anymore I know they'll order you one.

I'm sorry, Ms. M, I'm afraid this one brought back bad memories for you!

Nice chairs. But, it's the "not free" part that gives me pause.

Julie said...

It's tempting, but 800 miles is a bit far to travel for a beanbag chair haha.

Fabulously tacky, Petrea. I want a set of those pink ones to make my neighbours hate me.
I do like the way you caught the awning with its message of "OO EAST".

Petrea Burchard said...

Michael, apparently we're all living in the same recession.

These guys are full service, Julie, I'm sure they'll ship it!

Dive, tacky is in the eye of the beholder. They're very southern Californian, but they'd be terribly out of place in a Norwich village.

These remind me of the candy colored chairs in Virginia's Birmingham post!!! Love the candy colors! And these are some of my favorite chairs!!!

Petrea Burchard said...

Oh no! Chieftess, I didn't even see that one. Now I look like Virginia's imitator.

Nevermind. There's no imitating Virginia.
