Zen Monday: #149

Zen Monday is the day you experience the photo and give us your thoughts rather than me telling you what the photo's about.

You might want to click on this one to enlarge it. Then make a comment. Say what comes to mind.

For further Monday Zen, feel free to read and comment on my new short-short fiction, Rooms, at the Rose City Sisters Flash Fiction blog.

And your pretty little dog, too!

I am neither pretty or little.

Woof woof.

I'm guessing that this isn't a wall but the font seems too small to be of any good on the ground. Not all of us notice things like you do!

@ Bookdragon
Actually, it IS a wall and I was required to support Petrea horizontally in a planking position to allow her to get the highly polished tips of her pumps into the picture

Pasadena City tried to save money by getting its citizenry to sponsor sidewalk slabs, but they didn't anticipate how possessive the donors would be.

Spiffy shoes, Petrea.
I wonder why somebody was so desperate to lay claim to that paving slab that they had a brass plaque installed. Kinda makes me itchy to dig it up and find out what's buried underneath it.

There must be a good reason for someone to go through the time and expense to install that hand made sign. But for the live of me I cant imagine what that reason could be.

All my shoes are private property.

I recognize those shoes. They look a little lonely without Boz's paw on top.

The next step BEGINS the rest of your life.

Who wants your dirty old slab of concrete anyway? Petrea's shoes on the other hand...

I've always wanted my own personal slab of sidewalk...

Awfully small personal space reservation for that one.

Yep, it's the shoes. Those shiny, scuff-less black pumps. Not even Boz's paw could mar them. And should the *tight* (insert your own definition here) person who had the sign made, with period-correct typeface, no less, not allow Petrea and her perfect shoes in, why would anyone want to go?

WV: trism - a cliche without the "u."

Step on it.

Crossing this slab must be like crossing the equator (did you feel the "bump"?)

Proper privatey.

Had to stop in my tracks. I don't know how many times I've stepped on this particular slab of sidewalk and not noticed I was trespassing.

The plaque is old indeed--old by California standards. (I was walking with a European visitor. Europeans scoff at our "old.")

If you'd like to take a look at it yourself it's on the north side of Colorado Blvd., west of Fair Oaks, somewhere near Barnes & Noble or thereabouts. Maybe further west. That block, though.

European's identity to be revealed tomorrow if you haven't guessed it already.

Thanks for participating in Zen Monday, and I know some of you read my story so thanks for that, too. I've had a good day and I blame all of you.

actually, a number of businesses in SF have this on the sidewalk. I believe it goes back to property rights and it gives the company the "right" to escort someone off the property if they so wish. Pacific Gas & Electric has it---which, considering they incinerated 8 people and 38 houses last fall, they have reason to be concerned about angry people showing up on their doorstep.

looking forward to the rest of the story!
